¹¹ Beloved, ^(A)if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

^12 (A)This is My ^(B)commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. ^13 (C)Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.

^13 (A)bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.

^34 (A)A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

²³ And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ ^(A)and love one another, as He gave ^[a]us commandment.

The Outworking of Love

^16 (A)By this we know love, ^(B)because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. ¹⁷ But ^(C)whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?

^31 (A)Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, ^[a]clamor, and ^(B)evil speaking be put away from you, ^(C)with all malice. ³² And ^(D)be kind to one another, tenderhearted, ^(E)forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

Walk in Love

5 Therefore^(F) be imitators of God as dear ^(G)children. ² And ^(H)walk in love, ^(I)as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God ^(J)for a sweet-smelling aroma.

Christ Our Pattern

^8 (A)I speak not by commandment, but I am testing the sincerity of your love by the diligence of others. ⁹ For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, ^(B)that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become ^(C)rich.

³⁷ And he said, “He who showed mercy on him.”

Then Jesus said to him, ^(A)“Go and do likewise.”
