¹⁰ The children of God and the children of the devil are revealed in this way: all who do not do what is right are not from God, nor are those who do not love a brother or sister.^(A)

⁸ Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love.

¹¹ Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but imitate what is good. Whoever does good is from God; whoever does evil has not seen God.^(A)

²¹ The commandment we have from him is this: those who love God must love their brothers and sisters also.

⁴⁴ You are from your father the devil, and you choose to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks according to his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.^(A)

³⁵ Instead, love your enemies, do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return.^[a] Your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, for he himself is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked.^(A)

³⁸ the field is the world, and the good seed are the children of the kingdom; the weeds are the children of the evil one,^(A)

⁷ Little children,^[a] let no one deceive you. Everyone who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. ⁸ Everyone who commits sin is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The Son of God was revealed for this purpose: to destroy the works of the devil.^(A)

⁴⁷ Whoever is from God hears the words of God. The reason you do not hear them is that you are not from God.”^(A)
