⁵ But ^(A)whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God ^[a]is perfected ^(B)in him. By this we know that we are in Him.

²³ Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, ^(A)and We will come to him and make Our home with him.

^21 (A)He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and ^[a]manifest Myself to him.”

Seeing God Through Love

^12 (A)No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us. ^13 (B)By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.

²⁸ But He said, ^(A)“More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”

The Spirit of Truth and the Spirit of Error

²⁴ Now ^(A)he who keeps His commandments ^(B)abides in Him, and He in him. And ^(C)by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.

^12 (A)Here is the ^[a]patience of the saints; ^(B)here^[b] are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.

² By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and ^(A)keep His commandments.

The Test of Knowing Him

³ Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. ⁴ He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a ^(A)liar, and the truth is not in him.
