Let Truth Abide in You

²⁴ Therefore let that abide in you ^(A)which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, ^(B)you also will abide in the Son and in the Father.

²³ Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, ^(A)and We will come to him and make Our home with him.

Love and Joy Perfected

⁹ “As the Father ^(A)loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. ^10 (B)If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.

⁵ And now I plead with you, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment to you, but that which we have had from the beginning: ^(A)that we love one another. ^6 (B)This is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, that ^(C)as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it.

¹⁶ And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and ^(A)he who abides in love abides in God, and God ^(B)in him.

^13 (A)By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.

^3 (A)Remember therefore how you have received and heard; hold fast and ^(B)repent. ^(C)Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you ^(D)as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you.

^7 [a]Brethren, I write no new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you have had ^(A)from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which you heard ^[b]from the beginning.

³ that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is ^(A)with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.

⁷ If you abide in Me, and My words ^(A)abide in you, ^(B)you^[a] will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.
