¹⁰ Anyone who loves their brother and sister^[a] lives in the light,^(A) and there is nothing in them to make them stumble.^(B)

¹⁴ We know that we have passed from death to life,^(A) because we love each other. Anyone who does not love remains in death.^(B)

³² Why not? Because they pursued it not by faith but as if it were by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone.^{(A) 33} As it is written:

¹³ Therefore let us stop passing judgment^(A) on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister.^(B)

¹⁰ Therefore, my brothers and sisters,^[a] make every effort to confirm your calling^(A) and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble,^(B)

³¹ To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching,^(A) you are really my disciples.

⁷ Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come!^(A)

²¹ But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away.^(A)
