³ what we have seen and heard we also declare to you so that you also may have fellowship with us, and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.^(A)

⁹ God is faithful, by whom you were called into the partnership of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.^(A)

³ And this is eternal life, that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.^(A)

²⁰ for we cannot keep from speaking about what we have seen and heard.”^(A)

²¹ that they may all be one. As you, Father, are in me and I am in you, may they also be in us,^[a] so that the world may believe that you have sent me.^(A)

Imitating Christ’s Humility

2 If, then, there is any comfort in Christ, any consolation from love, any partnership in the Spirit, any tender affection and sympathy,^(A)

⁷ but if we walk in the light as he himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.^(A)

²³ No one who denies the Son has the Father; everyone who confesses the Son has the Father also.^{(A) 24} Let what you heard from the beginning abide in you. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, then you will abide in the Son and in the Father.^(B)

The Word of Life

1 We declare to you what was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the word of life^(A)—

¹⁴ For we have become partners of Christ, if only we hold our first confidence firm to the end.
