1 Nou vle pale w de Pawòl[a] ki bay lavi a, sila a ki te la okòmansman an. Se li menm nou te tande epi nou te wè ak pwòp je nou. Nou te wè kijan l te aji, epi men nou te touche l. 2 Wi, sila ki se lavi a, li te parèt aklè devan nou. Nou te wè l, epi kon sa nou ka pale lòt yo de li. Kounye a, n ap anonse w li. Li se lavi etènèl ki te nan Bondye Papa a epi ki te parèt aklè devan nou. 3 Wi, se sa nou te wè ak sa nou te tande, n ap di w la a, paske nou vle w genyen kominyon[b] ak nou. Kominyon nou genyen an, se avèk Bondye Papa a ansanm ak Pitit li, Jezikris. 4 N ap ekri w bagay sa yo pou w kapab gen kè kontan nèt ale ak nou.
Bondye padone peche nou
5 Men sa mesaj Jezikris voye a te di: Bondye se limyè. Nan Li, pa gen pyès fènwa. 6 Konsa, si nou di nou gen kominyon ak Li epi n ap mennen tèt nou tankou moun ki nan fènwa, n ap bay manti epi nou p ap mete verite a an pratik. 7 Si n ap mache nan limyè,[c] paske Bondye nan limyè, n ap gen bon jan relasyon youn ak lòt epi san sakrifis Jezikris, pitit Bondye a, ap netwaye tout peche nou yo epi l ap fè nou pwòp.
8 Si nou di nou inosan pou sa ki gen pou wè ak peche, n ap twonpe tèt nou epi nou rejte verite a. 9 Si nou konfese peche nou yo bay Bondye, li fidèl epi li dwat, l ap padone nou epi l ap netwaye nou de tout sa nou te fè ki pa bon. 10 Si nou di nou pa janm fè peche, nou fè l tounen yon moun k ap bay manti epi tou nou rejte ansèyman li a.

The Word of Life
1 (A)That which was (B)from the beginning, (C)which we have heard, (D)which we have seen with our eyes, (E)which we looked upon and (F)have touched with our hands, concerning the word[a] of life— 2 (G)the life (H)was made manifest, and we have seen it, and (I)testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life, (J)which was with the Father and (K)was made manifest to us— 3 (L)that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed (M)our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. 4 And we are writing these things so (N)that our[b] joy may be complete.
Walking in the Light
5 (O)This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that (P)God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6 (Q)If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and (R)do not practice the truth. 7 But (S)if we walk in the light, (T)as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and (U)the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. 8 (V)If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and (W)the truth is not in us. 9 (X)If we confess our sins, he is (Y)faithful and just to forgive us our sins and (Z)to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say we have not sinned, (AA)we make him a liar, and (AB)his word is not in us.
