26 Per le classi dei portinai: dei Korahiti, Mescelemiah, figlio di Kore, dei figli di Asaf.
2 I figli di Mescelemiah furono Zaccaria il primogenito, Jediael il secondo, Zebadiah il terzo, Jathniel il quarto.
3 Elam il quinto, Jehohanan il sesto, Eljehoenai il settimo.
4 I figli di Obed-Edom furono Scemaiah il primogenito, Jehozabad il secondo, Joah il terzo, Sakar il quarto, Nethanel il quinto;
5 Ammiel il sesto, Issacar il settimo, Peulthai l'ottavo, poiché DIO l'aveva benedetto.
6 A Scemaiah, suo figlio, nacquero dei figli che signoreggiarono sulle loro case paterne, perché erano uomini forti e valorosi.
7 I figli di Scemaiah furono Othni, Rafael Obed e Elzabad, i cui fratelli Elihu e Semakiah furono uomini valorosi.
8 Tutti questi erano figli di Obededom; essi, i loro figli e i loro fratelli erano uomini valenti e pieni di forza e adatti per il servizio: sessantadue discendenti di Obed-Edom.
9 Mescelemiah ebbe figli e fratelli, diciotto uomini valorosi.
10 Hosah, dei figli di Merari, ebbe per figli: Scimri il capo (sebbene non fosse il primogenito, suo padre lo costituí capo),
11 Hilkiah il secondo, Tebaliah il terzo Zaccaria il quarto: tutti insieme i figli e i fratelli di Hosah erano tredici.
12 A queste classi di portinai, tramite i loro capi, come anche ai loro fratelli furono affidati i compiti del servizio della casa dell'Eterno.
13 Tirarono a sorte per ciascuna porta, i piccoli come i grandi, secondo le loro case paterne.
14 Per la porta a est la sorte designò Scelemiah. Tirarono poi a sorte per suo figlio Zaccaria, un consigliere assennato e la sorte gli assegnò la porta a nord;
15 A Obed-Edom a sud, e ai suoi figli i magazzini.
16 A Shuppim e a Hosah a ovest, con la porta Shalleketh, sulla via della salita: un posto di guardia di fronte all'altro.
17 Sul lato est erano fissi sei Leviti ogni giorno, sul lato nord quattro ogni giorno, sul lato sud quattro ogni giorno, e ai magazzini due per ciascuno.
18 Al Parbar, sul lato ovest, erano addetti quattro per la strada e due per il Parbar.
19 Queste erano le classi dei portinai scelti tra i figli di Kore e i figli di Merari.
20 Dei Leviti, Ahijah era preposto ai tesori della casa di DIO e ai tesori delle cose consacrate.
21 I figli di Ladan, i figli dei Ghershoniti discesi da Ladan, i capi delle case paterne di Ladan, il Ghershonita, cioè Jehieli.
22 I figli di Jehieli, Zetham e Joel suo fratello, erano preposti ai tesori della casa dell'Eterno.
23 Fra gli Amramiti, gli Jitshariti, gli Hebroniti e gli Uzzieliti;
24 Scebuel, figlio di Ghershom, figlio di Mosè, era sovrintendente dei tesori.
25 I suoi fratelli, tramite Eliezer, furono suo figlio Rehabiah, il cui figlio fu Jeshaiah, il cui figlio fu Joramil cui figlio fu Zikri, il cui figlio fu Scelomith.
26 Questo Scelomith e i suoi fratelli erano preposti a tutti i tesori delle cose sacre, che il re Davide, i capi delle case paterne e i capi dell'esercito avevano consacrate.
27 Essi avevano consacrato parte del bottino ottenuto in guerra per mantenere la casa dell'Eterno.
28 Inoltre tutto ciò che era stato consacrato da Samuele il veggente, da Saul figlio di Kish, da Abner figlio di Ner e da Joab figlio di Tseruiah, e qualunque cosa consacrata da qualsiasi altro era sotto la responsabilità di Scelomith e dei suoi fratelli.
29 Fra gli Jitshariti, Kenaiah e i suoi figli erano addetti agli affari esterni d'Israele, in qualità di magistrati e giudici.
30 Fra gli Hebroniti Hashabiah e i suoi fratelli millesettecento uomini valorosi, furono preposti alla sorveglianza d'Israele, di qui dal Giordano, a occidente in tutti gli affari dell'Eterno e nel servizio del re.
31 Jerijah era il capo degli Hebroniti secondo le generazioni delle loro case paterne. Nel quarantesimo anno del regno di Davide si fecero ricerche e si trovarono fra loro uomini forti e valorosi a Jazer di Galaad.
32 I suoi fratelli erano duemilasettecento uomini valorosi, capi di case paterne. Il re Davide affidò loro la sorveglianza dei Rubeniti, dei Gaditi della mezza tribú di Manasse, per tutte le cose che riguardavano DIO e gli affari del re.

Dei Corachiti: Meselemia, figlio di Core, uno dei figli di Asaf[a]. 2 Figli di Meselemia: Zaccaria il primogenito, Iediael il secondo, Zebadia il terzo, Iatniel il quarto, 3 Elam il quinto, Iocanan il sesto, Elioenai il settimo. 4 Figli di Obed-Edom: Semaia il primogenito, Ieozabad il secondo, Ioa il terzo, Sacar il quarto, 5 Netanel il quinto, Ammiel il sesto, Issacar il settimo, Peulletai l’ottavo, poiché Dio l’aveva benedetto. 6 E a Semaia, suo figlio, nacquero dei figli che governarono la casa del padre loro perché erano uomini forti e valorosi. 7 Figli di Semaia: Otni, Refael, Obed, Elzabad e i suoi fratelli, uomini valorosi, Eliu e Semachia. 8 Tutti questi erano figli di Obed-Edom; essi, i loro figli e i loro fratelli erano uomini valorosi e pieni di forza per il servizio: sessantadue di Obed-Edom. 9 Meselemia ebbe figli e fratelli, uomini valorosi, in numero di diciotto. 10 Cosa, dei figli di Merari, ebbe per figli: Simri il capo, che il padre aveva fatto capo, sebbene non fosse il primogenito, 11 Chilchia il secondo, Tebalia il terzo, Zaccaria il quarto. Tutti i figli e i fratelli di Cosa erano in numero di tredici.
12 A queste classi di portinai, ai capi di questi uomini, come anche ai loro fratelli, fu affidato l’incarico del servizio della casa del Signore. 13 E tirarono a sorte per ciascuna porta, i più piccoli come i più grandi, nell’ordine delle loro case patriarcali.
14 Per il lato d’oriente la sorte designò Selemia. Si tirò poi a sorte per Zaccaria, suo figlio, che era un consigliere intelligente; e la sorte designò lui per il lato di settentrione. 15 Per il lato di mezzogiorno la sorte designò Obed-Edom, e per i magazzini designò i suoi figli. 16 Per il lato d’occidente, con la porta Sallechet, sulla via che sale, la sorte designò Suppim e Cosa, in due posti di guardia, uno di fronte all’altro. 17 A oriente c’erano sei Leviti; a settentrione, quattro per giorno; a meridione, quattro per giorno, e quattro ai magazzini, due per ogni ingresso; 18 al recinto del tempio, a occidente, ve n’erano quattro addetti per la strada, due per il recinto.
19 Queste sono le classi dei portinai, scelti tra i figli di Core e i figli di Merari.
20 I Leviti, loro fratelli, erano preposti ai tesori della casa di Dio e ai tesori delle cose consacrate. 21 I figli di Laedan, cioè i figli dei Ghersoniti discesi da Laedan, i capi delle case patriarcali di Laedan il Ghersonita, cioè Ieieli; 22 e i figli di Ieieli, Zetam e Ioel suo fratello, erano preposti ai tesori della casa del Signore. 23 Fra gli Amramiti, gli Iseariti, gli Ebroniti e gli Uzzieliti, 24 Sebuel, figlio di Ghersom, figlio di Mosè, era sovrintendente dei tesori. 25 I suoi fratelli, tramite Eliezer, furono Reabia suo figlio, che ebbe per figlio Isaia, che ebbe per figlio Ioram, che ebbe per figlio Zicri, che ebbe per figlio Selomit. 26 Questo Selomit e i suoi fratelli erano preposti a tutti i tesori delle cose sacre che il re Davide, i capi delle case patriarcali, i capi di migliaia e di centinaia e i capi dell’esercito avevano consacrate 27 (prelevandole dal bottino di guerra per il mantenimento della casa del Signore), 28 e a tutto quello che era stato consacrato da Samuele il veggente, da Saul figlio di Chis, da Abner figlio di Ner e da Ioab figlio di Seruia. Chiunque consacrava qualcosa l’affidava alle mani di Selomit e dei suoi fratelli.
I magistrati in Israele
29 (B)Fra gli Iseariti, Chenania e i suoi figli erano addetti agli affari esterni al tempio, come magistrati e giudici in Israele. 30 Fra gli Ebroniti, Casabia e i suoi fratelli, uomini valorosi, in numero di millesettecento, furono preposti alla sorveglianza d’Israele, di qua dal Giordano, a occidente, per tutti gli affari che concernevano il Signore e per il servizio del re. 31 Per quanto concerne gli Ebroniti, di cui Ieria era il capo, l’anno quarantesimo del regno di Davide si fecero delle ricerche relative alle loro genealogie, secondo le loro case patriarcali, e si trovarono fra di loro uomini forti e valorosi a Iaezer in Galaad. 32 I fratelli di Ieria, uomini valorosi, erano duemilasettecento capi di case patriarcali. Il re Davide affidò loro la sorveglianza dei Rubeniti, dei Gaditi, della mezza tribù di Manasse, per tutte le cose concernenti Dio e per tutti gli affari del re.

The Gatekeepers
26 Concerning the divisions of the gatekeepers: of the Korahites, [a]Meshelemiah the son of (A)Kore, of the sons of [b]Asaph. 2 And the sons of Meshelemiah were (B)Zechariah the firstborn, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, Jathniel the fourth, 3 Elam the fifth, Jehohanan the sixth, Eliehoenai the seventh.
4 Moreover the sons of (C)Obed-Edom were Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, Sacar the fourth, Nethanel the fifth, 5 Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, Peulthai the eighth; for God blessed him.
6 Also to Shemaiah his son were sons born who governed their fathers’ houses, because they were men of great ability. 7 The sons of Shemaiah were Othni, Rephael, Obed, and Elzabad, whose brothers Elihu and Semachiah were able men.
8 All these were of the sons of Obed-Edom, they and their sons and their brethren, (D)able men with strength for the work: sixty-two of Obed-Edom.
9 And Meshelemiah had sons and brethren, eighteen able men.
10 Also (E)Hosah, of the children of Merari, had sons: Shimri the first (for though he was not the firstborn, his father made him the first), 11 Hilkiah the second, Tebaliah the third, Zechariah the fourth; all the sons and brethren of Hosah were thirteen.
12 Among these were the divisions of the gatekeepers, among the chief men, having duties just like their brethren, to serve in the house of the Lord. 13 And they (F)cast lots for each gate, the small as well as the great, according to their father’s house. 14 The lot for the East Gate fell to [c]Shelemiah. Then they cast lots for his son Zechariah, a wise counselor, and his lot came out for the North Gate; 15 to Obed-Edom the South Gate, and to his sons the [d]storehouse. 16 To Shuppim and Hosah the lot came out for the West Gate, with the Shallecheth Gate on the (G)ascending highway—watchman opposite watchman. 17 On the east were six Levites, on the north four each day, on the south four each day, and for the [e]storehouse two by two. 18 As for the [f]Parbar on the west, there were four on the highway and two at the Parbar. 19 These were the divisions of the gatekeepers among the sons of Korah and among the sons of Merari.
The Treasuries and Other Duties
20 Of the Levites, Ahijah was (H)over the treasuries of the house of God and over the treasuries of the (I)dedicated[g] things. 21 The sons of [h]Laadan, the descendants of the Gershonites of Laadan, heads of their fathers’ houses, of Laadan the Gershonite: [i]Jehieli. 22 The sons of Jehieli, Zetham and Joel his brother, were over the treasuries of the house of the Lord. 23 Of the (J)Amramites, the Izharites, the Hebronites, and the Uzzielites: 24 (K)Shebuel the son of Gershom, the son of Moses, was overseer of the treasuries. 25 And his brethren by Eliezer were Rehabiah his son, Jeshaiah his son, Joram his son, Zichri his son, and (L)Shelomith his son.
26 This Shelomith and his brethren were over all the treasuries of the dedicated things (M)which King David and the heads of fathers’ houses, the captains over thousands and hundreds, and the captains of the army, had dedicated. 27 Some of the [j]spoils won in battles they dedicated to maintain the house of the Lord. 28 And all that Samuel (N)the seer, Saul the son of Kish, Abner the son of Ner, and Joab the son of Zeruiah had dedicated, every dedicated thing, was under the hand of Shelomith and his brethren.
29 Of the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons (O)performed duties as (P)officials and judges over Israel outside Jerusalem.
30 Of the Hebronites, (Q)Hashabiah and his brethren, one thousand seven hundred able men, had the oversight of Israel on the west side of the Jordan for all the business of the Lord, and in the service of the king. 31 Among the Hebronites, (R)Jerijah was head of the Hebronites according to his genealogy of the fathers. In the fortieth year of the reign of David they were sought, and there were found among them capable men (S)at Jazer of Gilead. 32 And his brethren were two thousand seven hundred able men, heads of fathers’ houses, whom King David made officials over the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, for every matter pertaining to God and the (T)affairs of the king.

16 To Shuppim and Hosah the lot came forth westward, with the gate Shallecheth, by the causeway of the going up, ward against ward.
17 Eastward were six Levites, northward four a day, southward four a day, and toward Asuppim two and two.
18 At Parbar westward, four at the causeway, and two at Parbar.
19 These are the divisions of the porters among the sons of Kore, and among the sons of Merari.
20 And of the Levites, Ahijah was over the treasures of the house of God, and over the treasures of the dedicated things.
