25 Poi Davide e i capi dell'esercito appartarono per il servizio alcuni dei figli di Asaf, di Heman, e di Jeduthun perché cantassero inni sotto ispirazione con cetre, con arpe e con cembali. Il numero degli uomini che prestavano questo servizio era:
2 dei figli di Asaf: Zakkur, Josef, Nethaniah, Asarelah; i figli di Asaf erano sotto la direzione di Asaf, che cantava gli inni sotto ispirazione in base agli ordini del re.
3 Di Jeduthun, i figli di Jeduthun: Ghedaliah, Tseri, Jeshaiah, Scimei, Hashabiah e Mattihiah, sei, sotto la direzione del loro padre Jeduthun, che cantava inni sotto ispirazione con la cetra per celebrare e lodare l'Eterno.
4 Di Heman, i figli di Heman: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Scebuel, Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Ghiddalti, Romamti-Ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir e Mahazioth.
5 Tutti questi erano figli di Heman veggente del re, secondo la parola di DIO di esaltare la sua potenza. DIO infatti aveva dato a Heman quattordici figli e tre figlie.
6 Tutti questi erano sotto la direzione del loro padre per cantare nella casa dell'Eterno con cembali, arpe e cetre per il servizio della casa di DIO. Asaf, Jeduthun e Heman stavano agli ordini del re.
7 Il loro numero, insieme ai loro fratelli addestrati a cantare all'Eterno, tutti quelli veramente capaci, era di duecentottantotto.
8 Per i loro turni di servizio tirarono a sorte i piccoli come i grandi, i maestri come i discepoli.
9 Il primo designato dalla sorte per Asaf fu Josef, il secondo Ghedaliah, con i suoi fratelli e i suoi figli, dodici in tutto;
10 il terzo fu Zakkur, con i suoi figli e i suoi fratelli, dodici in tutto;
11 il quarto fu Jitsri, con i suoi figli e i suoi fratelli, dodici in tutto;
12 il quinto fu Nethaniah, con i suoi figli e i suoi fratelli, dodici in tutto;
13 il sesto fu Bukkiah, con i suoi figli e i suoi fratelli, dodici in tutto;
14 il settimo fu Jesharelah, con i suoi figli e i suoi fratelli, dodici in tutto;
15 l'ottavo fu Jeshaiah, con i suoi figli e i suoi fratelli, dodici in tutto;
16 il nono fu Mattaniah, con i suoi figli e i suoi fratelli, dodici in tutto;
17 il decimo fu Scimei, con i suoi figli e i suoi fratelli, dodici in tutto;
18 l'undicesimo fu Azarel, con i suoi figli e i suoi fratelli, dodici in tutto;

23 il sedicesimo fu Hananiah, con i suoi figli e i suoi fratelli, dodici in tutto;
24 il diciassettesimo fu Joshbekashah, con i suoi figli e i suoi fratelli, dodici in tutto;
25 il diciottesimo fu Hanani, con i suoi figli e i suoi fratelli, dodici in tutto;
26 il diciannovesimo fu Mallothi, con i suoi figli e i suoi fratelli, dodici in tutto;
27 il ventesimo fu Eliathah, con i suoi figli e i suoi fratelli dodici in tutto;
28 il ventunesimo fu Hothir, con i suoi figli e i suoi fratelli, dodici in tutto;
29 il ventiduesimo fu Ghiddalti, con i suoi figli e i suoi fratelli, dodici in tutto;
30 il ventitreesimo fu Mahazioth, con i suoi figli e i suoi fratelli, dodici in tutto;
31 il ventiquattresimo fu Romamti-Ezer, con i suoi figli e i suoi fratelli, dodici in tutto.

25 Moreover David and the captains of the army separated for the service some of the sons of (A)Asaph, of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with harps, stringed instruments, and cymbals. And the number of the skilled men performing their service was: 2 Of the sons of Asaph: Zaccur, Joseph, Nethaniah, and [a]Asharelah; the sons of Asaph were [b]under the direction of Asaph, who prophesied according to the order of the king. 3 Of (B)Jeduthun, the sons of Jeduthun: Gedaliah, [c]Zeri, Jeshaiah, [d]Shimei, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, [e]six, under the direction of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied with a harp to give thanks and to praise the Lord. 4 Of Heman, the sons of Heman: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, [f]Uzziel, [g]Shebuel, [h]Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, Romamti-Ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth. 5 All these were the sons of Heman the king’s seer in the words of God, to [i]exalt his (C)horn. For God gave Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.
6 All these were under the direction of their father for the music in the house of the Lord, with cymbals, stringed instruments, and (D)harps, for the service of the house of God. Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman were (E)under the authority of the king. 7 So the (F)number of them, with their brethren who were instructed in the songs of the Lord, all who were skillful, was two hundred and eighty-eight.
8 And they cast lots for their duty, the small as well as the great, (G)the teacher with the student.

25 Moreover David and the captains of the host separated to the service of the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with harps, with psalteries, and with cymbals: and the number of the workmen according to their service was:
2 Of the sons of Asaph; Zaccur, and Joseph, and Nethaniah, and Asarelah, the sons of Asaph under the hands of Asaph, which prophesied according to the order of the king.
3 Of Jeduthun: the sons of Jeduthun; Gedaliah, and Zeri, and Jeshaiah, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six, under the hands of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied with a harp, to give thanks and to praise the Lord.
4 Of Heman: the sons of Heman: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, and Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, and Romamtiezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth:
5 All these were the sons of Heman the king's seer in the words of God, to lift up the horn. And God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.
6 All these were under the hands of their father for song in the house of the Lord, with cymbals, psalteries, and harps, for the service of the house of God, according to the king's order to Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman.
7 So the number of them, with their brethren that were instructed in the songs of the Lord, even all that were cunning, was two hundred fourscore and eight.
8 And they cast lots, ward against ward, as well the small as the great, the teacher as the scholar.
9 Now the first lot came forth for Asaph to Joseph: the second to Gedaliah, who with his brethren and sons were twelve:
10 The third to Zaccur, he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve:
11 The fourth to Izri, he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve:
12 The fifth to Nethaniah, he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve:
13 The sixth to Bukkiah, he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve:
14 The seventh to Jesharelah, he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve:
15 The eighth to Jeshaiah, he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve:
