14 推罗王希兰将香柏木运到大卫那里，又差遣使者和石匠、木匠给大卫建造宫殿。 2 大卫就知道耶和华坚立他做以色列王，又为自己的民以色列使他的国兴旺。
3 大卫在耶路撒冷又立后妃，又生儿女。 4 在耶路撒冷所生的众子是沙母亚、朔罢、拿单、所罗门、 5 益辖、以利书亚、以法列、 6 挪迦、尼斐、雅非亚、 7 以利沙玛、比利雅大、以利法列。
大卫击败非利士人
8 非利士人听见大卫受膏做以色列众人的王，非利士众人就上来寻索大卫。大卫听见，就出去迎敌。 9 非利士人来了，布散在利乏音谷。 10 大卫求问神说：“我可以上去攻打非利士人吗？你将他们交在我手里吗？”耶和华说：“你可以上去，我必将他们交在你手里。” 11 非利士人来到巴力毗拉心，大卫在那里杀败他们。大卫说：“神借我的手冲破敌人，如同水冲去一般。”因此称那地方为巴力毗拉心。 12 非利士人将神像撇在那里，大卫吩咐人用火焚烧了。
13 非利士人又布散在利乏音谷。 14 大卫又求问神，神说：“不要一直地上去，要转到他们后头，从桑林对面攻打他们。 15 你听见桑树梢上有脚步的声音，就要出战，因为神已经在你前头去攻打非利士人的军队。” 16 大卫就遵着神所吩咐的，攻打非利士人的军队，从基遍直到基色。 17 于是大卫的名传扬到列国，耶和华使列国都惧怕他。

David Established at Jerusalem(A)
14 Now (B)Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, with masons and carpenters, to build him a house. 2 So David knew that the Lord had established him as king over Israel, for his kingdom was (C)highly exalted for the sake of His people Israel.
3 Then David took more wives in Jerusalem, and David begot more sons and daughters. 4 And (D)these are the names of his children whom he had in Jerusalem: [a]Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon, 5 Ibhar, [b]Elishua, [c]Elpelet, 6 Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia, 7 Elishama, [d]Beeliada, and Eliphelet.
The Philistines Defeated(E)
8 Now when the Philistines heard that (F)David had been anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to search for David. And David heard of it and went out against them. 9 Then the Philistines went and made a raid (G)on the Valley of [e]Rephaim. 10 And David (H)inquired of God, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?”
The Lord said to him, “Go up, for I will deliver them into your hand.”
11 So they went up to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there. Then David said, “God has broken through my enemies by my hand like a breakthrough of water.” Therefore they called the name of that place [f]Baal Perazim. 12 And when they left their gods there, David gave a commandment, and they were burned with fire.
13 (I)Then the Philistines once again made a raid on the valley. 14 Therefore David inquired again of God, and God said to him, “You shall not go up after them; circle around them, (J)and come upon them in front of the mulberry trees. 15 And it shall be, when you hear a sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then you shall go out to battle, for God has gone out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.” 16 So David did as God commanded him, and they drove back the army of the Philistines from [g]Gibeon as far as Gezer. 17 Then (K)the fame of David went out into all lands, and the Lord (L)brought the fear of him upon all nations.
