Ang Pagkaing Inialay sa mga Diyos-diyosan
8 Isinusulat ko ang patungkol sa pagkaing inihain sa mga diyos-diyosan. Alam natin na lahat tayo ay may kaalaman. Ang kaalaman ay nakakapagpayabang ngunit ang pag-ibig ay nakakapagpatatag.
2 Ngunit kung ang sinuman ay nag-aakalang alam niya ang anumang bagay, siya ay wala pang nalalaman sa dapat niyang malaman. 3 Kung ang sinuman ay umiibig sa Diyos, kilala siya ng Diyos.
4 Patungkol sa mga pagkaing inihain sa mga diyos-diyosan, alam nating walang halaga ang diyos-diyosan sa sanlibutan. Alam nating wala nang ibang Diyos maliban sa isa. 5 Sapagkat maraming mga tinatawag na diyos sa langit man o sa lupa, maraming diyos, maraming panginoon. 6 Subalit para sa atin iisa lamang ang Diyos, ang Ama. Sa kaniya nagmula ang lahat ng mga bagay at tayo ay para sa kaniya. Iisa lamang ang Panginoong Jesucristo. Sa pamamagitan niya nagmula ang lahat ng mga bagay at tayo ay nabubuhay sa pamamagitanniya.
7 Subalit hindi lahat ay may kaalaman. Dahil sa kanilang budhi patungkol sa mga diyos-diyosan, hanggang ngayon ay may ilang tao na kapag kinakain nila ang mga bagay na ito, iniisip nilang iyon ay inihain sa diyos-diyosan. At dahil mahihina ang kanilang budhi, iyon ay nadudungisan. 8 Hindi tayo nagiging katanggap-tanggap sa Diyos sa pamamagitan ng pagkain sapagkat kapag kumain tayo, hindi ito makakabuti sa atin. Kapag hindi tayo kumain, hindi ito makakasama sa atin.
9 Ngunit mag-ingat kayo baka ang karapatang ito ay maging katitisuran sa mga mahihina. 10 Ito ay sapagkat ikaw na may kaalaman, kung kumain ka sa templo ng mga diyos-diyosan at kung makita ka ng isang taong may mahinang budhi, hindi kaya lumakas ang loob niyang kumain din ng mga inihandog sa mga diyos-diyosan? 11 Dahil sa iyo na may kaalaman, hindi rin kaya masira ang buhay ng mahina mong kapatid, na kung kanino si Cristo ay namatay? 12 Sa ganito ay nagkakasala ka laban sa iyong mga kapatid at sinusugatan ang kanilang mahihinang budhi at nagkakasala ka laban kay Cristo. 13 Kaya nga, kung ang pagkain ko nito ay makakapagpatisod sa aking kapatid, hindi na ako kakain ng laman kailanman upang hindi ako maging katitisuran sa aking kapatid.

Food Offered to Idols
8 Now concerning[a] (A)food offered to idols: we know that (B)“all of us possess knowledge.” This “knowledge” (C)puffs up, (D)but love builds up. 2 (E)If anyone imagines that he knows something, (F)he does not yet know as he ought to know. 3 But if anyone loves God, (G)he is known by God.[b]
4 Therefore, as to the eating of food offered to idols, we know that (H)“an idol has no real existence,” and that (I)“there is no God but one.” 5 For although there may be (J)so-called gods in heaven or on earth—as indeed there are many “gods” and many “lords”— 6 yet (K)for us there is one God, the Father, (L)from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and (M)one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and (N)through whom we exist.
7 However, not all possess this knowledge. But some, (O)through former association with idols, eat food as really offered to an idol, and (P)their conscience, being weak, is defiled. 8 (Q)Food will not commend us to God. We are no worse off if we do not eat, and no better off if we do. 9 But take care (R)that this right of yours does not somehow become a stumbling block (S)to the weak. 10 For if anyone sees you who have knowledge eating[c] in an idol's temple, will he not be encouraged,[d] if his conscience is weak, to eat food offered to idols? 11 And so by your knowledge this weak person is (T)destroyed, the brother for whom Christ died. 12 Thus, sinning against your brothers[e] and (U)wounding their conscience when it is weak, (V)you sin against Christ. 13 Therefore, (W)if food makes my brother stumble, I will never eat meat, lest I make my brother stumble.

8 Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.
2 And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.
3 But if any man love God, the same is known of him.
4 As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one.
5 For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,)
6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
7 Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat it as a thing offered unto an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled.
8 But meat commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse.
9 But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.
10 For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols;
11 And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?
12 But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.
13 Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend.
