9 Am I not an apostle? Am I not free? Have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? Are not you my work in the Lord?
2 If I am not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you. For ye are the seal of mine apostleship in the Lord.
3 Mine answer to those who examine me is this:
4 Have we not power to eat and to drink?
5 Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as do other apostles and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?
6 Or is it I only and Barnabas who have not power to forbear working?
7 Who goeth to war at any time at his own expense? Who planteth a vineyard and eateth not of the fruit thereof? Or who feedeth a flock and eateth not of the milk of the flock?
8 Say I these things as a man, or saith not the law the same also?
9 For it is written in the Law of Moses: “Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn.” Doth God take care for oxen,
10 or doth He say it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope, and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope.
11 If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it so great a thing if we should reap your worldly things?
12 If others are partakers of this power over you, are we not even more? Nevertheless we have not used this power, but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the Gospel of Christ.
13 Do ye not know that those who minister concerning holy things live of the things of the temple, and those who wait upon the altar are partakers with the altar?
14 Even so hath the Lord ordained that those who preach the Gospel should live from the Gospel.
15 But I have used none of these things; neither have I written, that these things should be so done unto me. For it would be better for me to die than that any man should make my glorying void.
16 For though I preach the Gospel, I have nothing to glory about, for necessity is laid upon me. Yea, woe is unto me if I preach not the Gospel!
17 For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward; but if against my will, a dispensing of the Gospel is committed unto me.
18 What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the Gospel, I may make the Gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the Gospel.
19 For though I am free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.
20 And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to those who are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain those who are under the law;
21 to those who are outside the law, as outside the law (though not outside the law of God, but under the law of Christ), that I might gain those who are outside the law.
22 To the weak I became as weak, that I might gain the weak. I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.
23 And this I do for the Gospel’s sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.
24 Know ye not that those who run in a race all run, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain it.
25 And every man that striveth for mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible.
26 I therefore so run, but not with uncertainty; I so fight, but not as one that beateth the air.
27 But I keep control of my body, and bring it into subjection, lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

Không phải anh chị em chính là công trình của tôi trong Chúa sao? 2 Nếu đối với những người khác tôi không phải là sứ đồ, thì ít ra tôi là sứ đồ đối với anh chị em; vì anh chị em chính là dấu ấn cho chức sứ đồ của tôi trong Chúa.
3 Đối với những người phê bình tôi, đây là lời biện hộ của tôi. 4 Chúng tôi không có quyền ăn, uống sao? 5 Chúng tôi không có quyền đem theo một chị em làm vợ như các sứ đồ khác hoặc như các em của Chúa và như Sê-pha sao? 6 Hay là chỉ có tôi và Ba-na-ba mới phải tự túc làm việc để sống?
7 Có ai ăn cơm nhà mà đi đánh giặc không công? Có ai trồng nho mà không ăn quả? Hay có ai chăn nuôi súc vật mà không lấy sữa nó?
8 Phải chăng tôi nói vậy là theo thói người phàm? Kinh Luật không dạy như vậy sao?
9 Vì Kinh Luật Môi-se chép: “Chớ khớp miệng bò khi nó đang đạp lúa!”[a] Có phải Đức Chúa Trời lo cho bò không? 10 Hay Ngài hoàn toàn phán về chúng ta? Về chúng ta có lời chép rằng: “Người cày ruộng cày trong hy vọng và kẻ đạp lúa hy vọng được chia phần lúa.”
11 Nếu chúng tôi đã gieo điều thiêng liêng cho anh chị em thì việc gặt hái vật chất từ anh chị em là quá đáng sao?
12 Nếu những người khác còn có quyền ấy đối với anh chị em, chúng tôi không có sao?
Nhưng chúng tôi đã không dùng quyền này, chúng tôi chịu đựng tất cả để không làm trở ngại cho Phúc Âm của Chúa Cứu Thế. 13 Anh chị em không biết rằng ai phục vụ trong đền thờ thì nhận phần ăn từ đền thờ, ai giúp việc nơi bàn thờ thì được chia phần sinh tế nơi bàn thờ sao? 14 Cũng vậy, chính Chúa đã dạy:
“Ai truyền giảng Phúc Âm thì được nuôi sống bởi Phúc Âm.”
15 Nhưng tôi đã không sử dụng những quyền này. Tôi cũng không viết những lời này để đòi quyền ấy. Tôi thà chết còn hơn là mất đi niềm kiêu hãnh ấy. 16 Nếu tôi truyền giảng Phúc Âm, tôi không có gì để khoe khoang vì tôi buộc phải giảng. Nhưng khốn nạn cho tôi nếu tôi không truyền giảng Phúc Âm. 17 Vì nếu tôi tình nguyện làm việc này, tôi sẽ được thưởng. Nếu tôi không muốn làm, trách nhiệm vẫn giao cho tôi. 18 Thế thì phần thưởng của tôi là gì? Ấy là khi truyền giảng Phúc Âm, tôi giảng không công, chẳng đòi hỏi quyền lợi gì của người giảng Phúc Âm.
19 Vì dù tôi được tự do đối với mọi người, chính tôi tự làm nô lệ cho tất cả để có thể chinh phục nhiều người hơn. 20 Đối với người Do Thái, tôi trở nên giống như người Do Thái để chinh phục người Do Thái. Đối với người sống theo Kinh Luật, tôi sống như người theo Kinh Luật để chinh phục những người theo Kinh Luật, dầu tôi không bị Kinh Luật ràng buộc. 21 Đối với những người không có Kinh Luật, tôi sống như người không Kinh Luật, không phải tôi không có Kinh Luật của Đức Chúa Trời, vì tôi có Kinh Luật của Chúa Cứu Thế, để chinh phục người không Kinh Luật. 22 Đối với người yếu kém tôi trở nên như người yếu kém để chinh phục họ. Tôi trở nên mọi cách cho mọi người để bằng mọi cách cứu rỗi một vài người. 23 Tôi làm mọi sự vì cớ Phúc Âm để trở nên kẻ dự phần với Phúc Âm.
24 Anh chị em không biết rằng trên sân vận động, tất cả đều tranh đua, nhưng chỉ có một người thắng giải sao? Vậy, hãy chạy sao cho thắng cuộc. 25 Mỗi lực sĩ đều theo kỷ luật khắt khe về đủ mọi thứ, họ chịu như vậy để đoạt mão hoa chiến thắng sẽ tàn héo, nhưng chúng ta chịu như thế để nhận được mão hoa chiến thắng không phai tàn. 26 Về phần tôi, tôi chạy đua không phải là chạy vu vơ, tôi đánh, không phải là đánh gió. 27 Nhưng tôi phải áp dụng kỷ luật và khắc phục thân thể tôi, e rằng sau khi giảng dạy người khác, chính tôi lại bị loại chăng.

9 Ako ba ay hindi apostol? Hindi ba ako malaya? Hindi ko ba nakita si Jesucristo na ating Panginoon? Hindi ba kayo ay mga bunga ng aking gawa?
2 Kung sa ibang tao ako ay hindi apostol, gayunman, sa inyo ako ay isang apostol sapagkat kayo ang tatak ng aking pagka-apostol sa Panginoon.
3 Ito ang aking tugon sa mga sumisiyasat sa akin. 4 Wala ba kaming karapatang kumain at uminom? 5 Wala ba kaming karapatang magsama ng asawang manananampalataya tulad ng ibang mga apostol at ng mga kapatid sa Panginoon at ni Cefas? 6 Ako lang ba at si Bernabe ang walang karapatang hindi maghanapbuhay?
7 Sinong kawal, na sa panahon ng kaniyang pagiging kawal, ang naglingkod sa sarili niyang gugol? Sinong nagtatanim sa ubasan ang hindi kumakain ng bunga noon? Sinong nag-aalaga ng tupa ang hindi umiinom ng gatas ng tupa? 8 Sinasabi ko ba ang mga bagay na ito bilang isang tao? Hindi ba sinasabi rin ito ng kautusan? 9 Ito ay sapagkat isinulat ni Moises sa kautusan:
Huwag mong bubusalan ang baka na ginagamit sa paggigiik ng mais.
Ang baka ba ang pinagmamalasakitan ng Diyos?
10 Hindi ba ito ay sinabi niya nang dahil sa atin? Dahil sa atin ito ay isinulat: Ang nag-aararo ay dapat mag-araro sa pag-asa, at ang naggigiik ng mais sa pag-asa ay dapat maging kabahagi ng kaniyang pag-asa. 11 Yamang nakapaghasik kami sa inyo ng mga espirituwal na bagay, malaking bagay ba kung umani kami ng mga bagay na para sa katawan? 12 Yamang ang iba ay kabahagi sa karapatan sa inyo, hindi ba kami rin?
Gayunman, hindi namin ginamit ang karapatang ito. Sa halip, binata namin ang lahat ng bagay upang hindi namin mahadlangan ang ebanghelyo ni Cristo.
13 Hindi ba ninyo nalalaman na ang mga gumagawa ng mga banal na bagay sa templo ay kumakain mula sa mga bagay na nasa templo? Ngunit sa aba ko, kapag hindi ko ipangaral ang ebanghelyo. 17 Kapag ito ay ginawa ko nang kusang loob, mayroon akong gantimpala. Kapag ginawa ko ito nang labag sa aking kalooban, isang tungkulin pa rin ito na ipinagkatiwala sa akin. 18 Ano ngayon ang gantimpala ko? Ang gantimpala ko ay kung ipangaral ko ang ebanghelyo ni Cristo, ipinangangaral ko ang ebanghelyo ng walang bayad. Upang sa gayon ay hindi ko gagamitin ang sarili kong kapamahalaan sa ebanghelyo.
19 Ito ay sapagkat kahit na ako ay malaya mula sa kaninuman, gayunman, ginawa ko ang aking sarili na alipin ng lahat upang lalo pang marami ang madala ko. 20 Sa mga Judio ako ay naging Judio upang mahikayat ko ang mga Judio. Sa mga nasa ilalim ng kautusan ako ay naging tulad ng mga nasa ilalim upang madala ko sila na nasa ilalim ng kautusan. 21 Sa mga walang kautusan, ako ay naging tulad sa mga walang kautusan upang madala ko sila na walang kautusan.Hindi sa ako ay walang kautusan patungo sa Diyos subalit ako ay sa ilalim ng kautusan patungo kay Cristo. 22 Sa mga mahihina ako ay naging mahina upang madala ko ang mga mahihina. Naging ganito ako sa lahat ng bagay upang mailigtas ko sa bawat kaparaanan kahit ang ilan. 23 Ito ay ginagawa ko alang-alang sa ebanghelyo nang sa gayon ako ay maging kapwa kabahagi ng ebanghelyo.
24 Hindi ba ninyo nalalaman na sa paligsahan sa pagtakbo ang lahat ay tumatakbo ngunit iisa ang nagkakamit ng gantimpala? Kung gayon, pagbutihin ninyo ang pagtakbo upang makamit ang gantimpala. 25 Ang bawat isang sumasali sa paligsahan ay may pagpipigil sa sarili sa lahat ng bagay. Ginagawa nila iyon upang magkamit sila ng putong na nasisira ngunit tayo ay putong na hindi nasisira. 26 Kaya nga, ako ay tumatakbo hindi tulad sa walang katiyakan. Paul’s Rights as an Apostle
9 Am I not free?(A) Am I not an apostle?(B) Have I not seen Jesus our Lord?(C) Are you not the result of my work in the Lord?(D) 2 Even though I may not be an apostle to others, surely I am to you! For you are the seal(E) of my apostleship in the Lord.
3 This is my defense to those who sit in judgment on me. 4 Don’t we have the right to food and drink?(F) 5 Don’t we have the right to take a believing wife(G) along with us, as do the other apostles and the Lord’s brothers(H) and Cephas[a]?(I) 6 Or is it only I and Barnabas(J) who lack the right to not work for a living?
7 Who serves as a soldier(K) at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard(L) and does not eat its grapes? Who tends a flock and does not drink the milk? 8 Do I say this merely on human authority? Doesn’t the Law say the same thing? 9 For it is written in the Law of Moses: “Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain.”[b](M) Is it about oxen that God is concerned?(N) 10 Surely he says this for us, doesn’t he? Yes, this was written for us,(O) because whoever plows and threshes should be able to do so in the hope of sharing in the harvest.(P) 11 If we have sown spiritual seed among you, is it too much if we reap a material harvest from you?(Q) 12 If others have this right of support from you, shouldn’t we have it all the more?
But we did not use this right.(R) On the contrary, we put up with anything rather than hinder(S) the gospel of Christ.
13 Don’t you know that those who serve in the temple get their food from the temple, and that those who serve at the altar share in what is offered on the altar?(T) 14 In the same way, the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should receive their living from the gospel.(U)
15 But I have not used any of these rights.(V) And I am not writing this in the hope that you will do such things for me, for I would rather die than allow anyone to deprive me of this boast.(W) 16 For when I preach the gospel, I cannot boast, since I am compelled to preach.(X) Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel! 17 If I preach voluntarily, I have a reward;(Y) if not voluntarily, I am simply discharging the trust committed to me.(Z) 18 What then is my reward? Just this: that in preaching the gospel I may offer it free of charge,(AA) and so not make full use of my rights(AB) as a preacher of the gospel.
Paul’s Use of His Freedom
19 Though I am free(AC) and belong to no one, I have made myself a slave to everyone,(AD) to win as many as possible.(AE) 20 To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews.(AF) To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law),(AG) so as to win those under the law. 21 To those not having the law I became like one not having the law(AH) (though I am not free from God’s law but am under Christ’s law),(AI) so as to win those not having the law. 22 To the weak I became weak, to win the weak.(AJ) I have become all things to all people(AK) so that by all possible means I might save some.(AL) 23 I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.
The Need for Self-Discipline
24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize?(AM) Run(AN) in such a way as to get the prize. 25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown(AO) that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.(AP) 26 Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly;(AQ) I do not fight like a boxer beating the air.(AR) 27 No, I strike a blow to my body(AS) and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.(AT)
