⁷ I wish that all of you were as I am.^(A) But each of you has your own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that.^(B)

⁸ Now to the unmarried^[a] and the widows I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, as I do.^(C)

³ It is God’s will^(A) that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality;^(B)

¹⁸ give thanks in all circumstances;^(A) for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

³³ But seek first his kingdom^(A) and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.^(B)

²⁸ “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?

Boasting About Tomorrow

¹³ Now listen,^(A) you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.”^{(B) 14} Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.^(C)
