¹⁸ Flee from sexual immorality.^(A) All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.^(B)

²⁸ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.^{(A) 29} If your right eye causes you to stumble,^(B) gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.

³ But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality,^(A) or of any kind of impurity, or of greed,^(B) because these are improper for God’s holy people. ⁴ Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk^(C) or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.^(D)

⁵ For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater^(A)—has any inheritance^(B) in the kingdom of Christ and of God.^{[a](C) 6} Let no one deceive you^(D) with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath^(E) comes on those who are disobedient.^(F)

¹⁹ The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality,^(A) impurity and debauchery;

²¹ and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like.^(A) I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.^(B)

³ It is God’s will^(A) that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality;^{(B) 4} that each of you should learn to control your own body^[a](C) in a way that is holy and honorable, ⁵ not in passionate lust^(D) like the pagans,^(E) who do not know God;^(F)

⁷ For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.^(A)

¹⁶ See that no one is sexually immoral,^(A) or is godless like Esau, who for a single meal sold his inheritance rights as the oldest son.^(B)
