1 Corinthians 4:17-5:6

¹⁷That is why ^(A)I sent^[a] you Timothy, ^(B)my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, to remind you of my ways in Christ,^[b] ^(C)as I teach them everywhere in every church. ¹⁸Some are ^(D)arrogant, ^(E)as though I were not coming to you. ¹⁹But ^(F)I will come to you soon, if the Lord wills, and I will find out not the talk of these arrogant people but their power. ²⁰For ^(G)the kingdom of God does not consist in talk but in power. ²¹What do you wish? ^(H)Shall I come to you with a rod, or with love in a spirit of gentleness?

Sexual Immorality Defiles the Church

5 It is actually reported that there is ^(I)sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that is not tolerated even among pagans, ^(J)for a man has his father's wife. ²And ^(K)you are arrogant! Ought you ^(L)not rather to mourn? Let him who has done this be removed from among you.

³For though ^(M)absent in body, I am present in spirit; and as if present, I have already pronounced judgment on the one who did such a thing. ⁴When you are assembled ^(N)in the name of the Lord Jesus and my spirit is present, with the power of our Lord Jesus, ⁵you are ^(O)to deliver this man to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so ^(P)that his spirit may be saved ^(Q)in the day of the Lord.^[c]
