⁴For when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,”^(A) are you not mere human beings?

⁵What, after all, is Apollos?^(B) And what is Paul? Only servants,^(C) through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. ⁶I planted the seed,^(D) Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. ⁷So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.

¹Surely God is good to Israel,
to those who are pure in heart.^(A)

²But as for me, my feet had almost slipped;^(B)
I had nearly lost my foothold.^(C)
³For I envied^(D) the arrogant
when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.^(E)

²¹When my heart was grieved
and my spirit embittered,
²²I was senseless^(A) and ignorant;
I was a brute beast^(B) before you.

²³Yet I am always with you;
    you hold me by my right hand.^(C)
²⁴You guide^(D) me with your counsel,^(E)
    and afterward you will take me into glory.
²⁵Whom have I in heaven but you?^(F)
    And earth has nothing I desire besides you.^(G)
