16 Now here are the directions about the money you are collecting to send to the Christians in Jerusalem;[a] (and, by the way, these are the same directions I gave to the churches in Galatia). 2 On every Lord’s Day each of you should put aside something from what you have earned during the week, and use it for this offering. The amount depends on how much the Lord has helped you earn. Don’t wait until I get there and then try to collect it all at once. 3 When I come I will send your loving gift with a letter to Jerusalem, to be taken there by trustworthy messengers you yourselves will choose. 4 And if it seems wise for me to go along too, then we can travel together.
5 I am coming to visit you after I have been to Macedonia first, but I will be staying there only for a little while. 6 It could be that I will stay longer with you, perhaps all winter, and then you can send me on to my next destination. 7 This time I don’t want to make just a passing visit and then go right on; I want to come and stay awhile, if the Lord will let me. 8 I will be staying here at Ephesus until the holiday of Pentecost, 9 for there is a wide open door for me to preach and teach here. So much is happening, but there are many enemies.
10 If Timothy comes make him feel at home, for he is doing the Lord’s work just as I am. 11 Don’t let anyone despise or ignore him because he is young,[b] but send him back to me happy with his time among you; I am looking forward to seeing him soon, along with the others who are returning.
12 I begged Apollos to visit you along with the others, but he thought that it was not at all God’s will for him to go now; he will be seeing you later on when he has the opportunity.
13 Keep your eyes open for spiritual danger; stand true to the Lord; act like men; be strong; 14 and whatever you do, do it with kindness and love.
15 Do you remember Stephanas and his family? They were the first to become Christians in Greece, and they are spending their lives helping and serving Christians everywhere. 16 Please follow their instructions and do everything you can to help them as well as all others like them who work hard at your side with such real devotion. 17 I am so glad that Stephanas, Fortunatus, and Achaicus have arrived here for a visit. They have been making up for the help you aren’t here to give me. 18 They have cheered me greatly and have been a wonderful encouragement to me, as I am sure they were to you, too. I hope you properly appreciate the work of such men as these.
19 The churches here in Asia send you their loving greetings. Aquila and Priscilla send you their love, and so do all the others who meet in their home for their church service. 20 All the friends here have asked me to say hello to you for them. And give each other a loving handshake when you meet.
21 I will write these final words of this letter with my own hand: 22 if anyone does not love the Lord, that person is cursed. Lord Jesus, come! 23 May the love and favor of the Lord Jesus Christ rest upon you. 24 My love to all of you, for we all belong to Christ Jesus.

The Collection for the Saints
16 Now concerning[a] (A)the collection for the saints: as I directed the churches of Galatia, so you also are to do. 2 On (B)the first day of every week, each of you is to put something aside and store it up, (C)as he may prosper, (D)so that there will be no collecting when I come. 3 And when I arrive, I will send (E)those whom you accredit by letter to carry your gift to Jerusalem. 4 If it seems advisable that I should go also, they will accompany me.
Plans for Travel
5 (F)I will visit you after passing through (G)Macedonia, for (H)I intend to pass through Macedonia, 6 and perhaps I will stay with you or even spend the winter, so that you may (I)help me on my journey, wherever I go. 7 For I do not want to see you now (J)just in passing. I hope to spend some time with you, (K)if the Lord permits. 8 But I will stay in Ephesus until (L)Pentecost, 9 for (M)a wide door for effective work has opened to me, and (N)there are many adversaries.
10 (O)When Timothy comes, see that you put him at ease among you, for (P)he is doing (Q)the work of the Lord, as I am. 11 So (R)let no one despise him. (S)Help him on his way (T)in peace, that he may return to me, for I am expecting him with the brothers.
Final Instructions
12 Now concerning (U)our brother Apollos, I strongly urged him to visit you with the other brothers, but it was not at all his will[b] to come now. He will come when he has opportunity.
13 (V)Be watchful, (W)stand firm in the faith, (X)act like men, (Y)be strong. 14 (Z)Let all that you do be done in love.
15 Now I urge you, brothers[c]—you know that (AA)the household[d] of Stephanas were (AB)the first converts[e] in Achaia, and that they have devoted themselves (AC)to the service of the saints— 16 (AD)be subject to such as these, and to every fellow worker and laborer. 17 I rejoice at the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus, because they have made up for (AE)your absence, 18 for they (AF)refreshed my spirit as well as yours. (AG)Give recognition to such people.

16 Vad nu angår insamlingen till de heliga, så mån I förfara på samma sätt som jag har förordnat för församlingarna i Galatien.
2 Var och en av eder må spara ihop vad han får tillfälle till, och på första dagen i var vecka må han lägga av detta hemma hos sig, så att insamlingen icke göres först vid min ankomst.
3 Men när jag kommer, skall jag sända åstad de män som I själva pröven vara lämpliga, med brev till Jerusalem, för att där frambära eder kärleksgåva.
4 Och om saken befinnes vara värd att också jag reser, så skola de få åtfölja mig.
5 Jag tänker nämligen komma till eder, sedan jag har farit genom Macedonien. Ty Macedonien vill jag allenast fara igenom,
6 men hos eder skall jag kanhända stanna något, möjligen vintern över, för att I därefter mån hjälpa mig till vägs, dit jag kan vilja begiva mig.
7 Jag vill icke besöka eder nu strax, på genomresa, ty jag hoppas att någon tid få stanna hos eder, om Herren så tillstädjer.
8 Men i Efesus vill jag stanna ända till pingst.
9 Ty en dörr till stor och fruktbärande verksamhet har öppnats för mig; jag har ock många motståndare.
10 Men när Timoteus kommer, så sen till, att han utan fruktan må kunna vistas hos eder. Han utför ju Herrens verk, han såväl som jag;
11 må därför ingen förakta honom. Hjälpen honom sedan till vägs i frid, så att han kommer åter till mig; ty jag väntar honom med bröderna.
12 Vad angår brodern Apollos, så har jag ivrigt uppmanat honom att med de andra bröderna begiva sig till eder. Han var dock alls icke hågad att komma just nu; men när det bliver honom lägligt, skall han komma.
13 Vaken, stån fasta i tron, skicken eder såsom män, varen starka.
14 Låten allt hos eder ske i kärlek.
15 Mina bröder, jag vill giva eder en förmaning: I kännen ju Stefanas' husfolk och veten att de äro förstlingen i Akaja, och att de hava ägnat sig åt de heligas tjänst;
16 därför mån I å eder sida underordna eder under dessa män och under envar som bistår dem i deras arbete och själv gör sig möda.
17 Jag gläder mig över att Stefanas och Fortunatus och Akaikus hava kommit hit, ty dessa hava givit mig ersättning för vad jag har måst sakna genom att vara skild från eder;
18 de hava vederkvickt min ande såväl som eder ande. Så lären eder nu att rätt uppskatta sådana män.
19 Församlingarna i provinsen Asien hälsar eder. Akvila och Priska, tillika med den församling som kommer tillhopa i deras hus, hälsa eder mycket i Herren.
20 Ja, alla bröderna hälsa eder. Hälsen varandra med en helig kyss.

The Collection for the Lord’s People
16 Now about the collection(A) for the Lord’s people:(B) Do what I told the Galatian(C) churches to do. 2 On the first day of every week,(D) each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with your income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made.(E) 3 Then, when I arrive, I will give letters of introduction to the men you approve(F) and send them with your gift to Jerusalem. 4 If it seems advisable for me to go also, they will accompany me.
Personal Requests
5 After I go through Macedonia, I will come to you(G)—for I will be going through Macedonia.(H) 6 Perhaps I will stay with you for a while, or even spend the winter, so that you can help me on my journey,(I) wherever I go. 7 For I do not want to see you now and make only a passing visit; I hope to spend some time with you, if the Lord permits.(J) 8 But I will stay on at Ephesus(K) until Pentecost,(L) 9 because a great door for effective work has opened to me,(M) and there are many who oppose me.
10 When Timothy(N) comes, see to it that he has nothing to fear while he is with you, for he is carrying on the work of the Lord,(O) just as I am. 11 No one, then, should treat him with contempt.(P) Send him on his way(Q) in peace(R) so that he may return to me. I am expecting him along with the brothers.
12 Now about our brother Apollos:(S) I strongly urged him to go to you with the brothers. He was quite unwilling to go now, but he will go when he has the opportunity.
13 Be on your guard; stand firm(T) in the faith; be courageous; be strong.(U) 14 Do everything in love.(V)
15 You know that the household of Stephanas(W) were the first converts(X) in Achaia,(Y) and they have devoted themselves to the service(Z) of the Lord’s people.(AA) I urge you, brothers and sisters, 16 to submit(AB) to such people and to everyone who joins in the work and labors at it. 17 I was glad when Stephanas, Fortunatus and Achaicus arrived, because they have supplied what was lacking from you.(AC) 18 For they refreshed(AD) my spirit and yours also. Such men deserve recognition.(AE)
Final Greetings
