⁴⁵ And so it is written, ^(A)“The first man Adam became a living being.” ^(B)The last Adam became ^(C)a life-giving spirit.

⁴⁶ However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual. ^47 (D)The first man was of the earth, ^(E)made^[a] of dust; the second Man is ^[b]the Lord ^(F)from heaven. ⁴⁸ As was the ^[c]man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; ^(G)and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly. ⁴⁹ And ^(H)as we have borne the image of the man of dust, ^(I)we^[d] shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man.

⁹ But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of ^(A)darkness into His marvelous light;

¹¹ And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. ^12 (A)He who has the Son has ^[a]life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
