13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, (A)then Christ is not risen. 14 And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty. 15 Yes, and we are found false witnesses of God, because (B)we have testified of God that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up—if in fact the dead do not rise. 16 For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen. 17 And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; (C)you are still in your sins! 18 Then also those who have [a]fallen (D)asleep in Christ have perished. 19 (E)If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable.

20 But now (F)Christ is risen from the dead, and has become (G)the firstfruits of those who have [b]fallen asleep. 21 For (H)since by man came death, (I)by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall (J)be made alive.

Dead to Sin, Alive to God

What shall we say then? (A)Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who (B)died to sin live any longer in it? Or do you not know that (C)as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus (D)were baptized into His death? Therefore we were (E)buried with Him through baptism into death, that (F)just as Christ was raised from the dead by (G)the glory of the Father, (H)even so we also should walk in newness of life.

(I)For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that (J)our old man was crucified with Him, that (K)the body of sin might be [a]done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.
