²⁵ For he must reign^(A) until he has put all his enemies under his feet.^{(B) 26} The last enemy to be destroyed is death.^(C)

⁵⁶ The sting of death is sin,^(B) and the power of sin is the law.^{(C) 57} But thanks be to God!^(D) He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.^(E)

¹⁴ Since the children have flesh and blood,^(A) he too shared in their humanity^(B) so that by his death he might break the power^(C) of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil^(D)— ¹⁵ and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear^(E) of death.
