²⁷ For God has put everything under his feet.^[a](A) Now when it says “everything” is put under him, it is obvious that he who puts everything under him is the exception. ²⁸ When everything is subject to Christ, then the Son^(B) himself will also be subject to the one who subjected everything to him, so that God may be all in all.^(C)

Resurrection Supported by Christian Experience

²⁹ Otherwise what will they do who are being baptized for the dead?^[b] If the dead are not raised at all, then why are people baptized for them?^[c]

⁸ For it says:

⁹ But what does “he ascended” mean except that he^[b] also descended to the lower parts of the earth?^{[c](C) 10} The one who descended is also the one who ascended far above all the heavens,^(D) to fill all things.^(E)

¹⁸ For Christ also suffered^(A) for sins once for all,^(B) the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring you to God.^(C) He was put to death in the flesh^[a](D) but made alive by the Spirit,^{[b] 19} in which^[c] he also went and made proclamation to the spirits^(E) in prison ²⁰ who in the past were disobedient, when God patiently waited in the days of Noah^(F) while the ark was being prepared. In it a few—that is, eight people^[d](G)—were saved through water.

⁹ Yet when Michael^(A) the archangel^(B) was disputing with the devil^(C) in an argument about Moses’s^(D) body, he did not dare utter a slanderous condemnation against him but said, “The Lord rebuke you!”

The Nazirite Vow

6 The Lord instructed Moses, ² “Speak to the Israelites and tell them: When a man or woman makes a special vow, a Nazirite vow,^(A) to consecrate himself to the Lord, ³ he is to abstain from wine and beer.^(B) He must not drink vinegar made from wine or from beer. He must not drink any grape juice or eat fresh grapes or raisins. ⁴ He is not to eat anything produced by the grapevine, from seeds to skin, during the period of his consecration.

⁵ “You must not cut his hair^[a] throughout the time of his vow of consecration. He may be holy until the time is completed during which he consecrates himself to the Lord; he is to let the hair of his head grow long.
