¹⁴ I thank God that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus^(A) and Gaius,^{(B) 15} so no one can say that you were baptized in my name. ¹⁶ (Yes, I also baptized the household^(C) of Stephanas;^(D) beyond that, I don’t remember if I baptized anyone else.) ¹⁷ For Christ did not send me to baptize,^(E) but to preach the gospel—not with wisdom^(F) and eloquence, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.

The Resurrection of Christ

15 Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel^(A) I preached to you,^(B) which you received and on which you have taken your stand. ² By this gospel you are saved,^(C) if you hold firmly^(D) to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
