Paul’s Use of His Freedom

¹⁹ Though I am free^(A) and belong to no one, I have made myself a slave to everyone,^(B) to win as many as possible.^(C)

Dealing With Sin in the Church

¹⁵ “If your brother or sister^[a] sins,^[b] go and point out their fault,^(A) just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over.

¹⁹ My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth^(A) and someone should bring that person back,^{(B) 20} remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save^(C) them from death and cover over a multitude of sins.^(D)

¹⁶ Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save^(A) both yourself and your hearers.

³³ even as I try to please everyone in every way.^(A) For I am not seeking my own good but the good of many,^(B) so that they may be saved.^(C)

²⁰ To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews.^(A) To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law),^(B) so as to win those under the law. ²¹ To those not having the law I became like one not having the law^(C) (though I am not free from God’s law but am under Christ’s law),^(D) so as to win those not having the law. ²² To the weak I became weak, to win the weak.^(E) I have become all things to all people^(F) so that by all possible means I might save some.^(G)

²⁶ Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,^{(A) 27} and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— ²⁸ just as the Son of Man^(B) did not come to be served, but to serve,^(C) and to give his life as a ransom^(D) for many.”

¹⁰ Therefore I endure everything^(A) for the sake of the elect,^(B) that they too may obtain the salvation^(C) that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.^(D)
