¹⁰ Or does he not speak entirely for our sake? It was indeed written for our sake, for whoever plows should plow in hope and whoever threshes should thresh in hope of a share in the crop.

⁶ It is the farmer who does the work who ought to have the first share of the crops.

⁹ For we are God’s coworkers, working together; you are God’s field, God’s building.^(A)

⁴ For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, so that by steadfastness and by the encouragement of the scriptures we might have hope.^(A)

²³ Now the words, “it was reckoned to him,” were written not for his sake alone^{(A) 24} but for ours also. It will be reckoned to us who believe^[a] in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead,^(B)

¹⁵ Indeed, everything is for your sake, so that grace, when it has extended to more and more people, may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God.

³⁵ Do you not say, ‘Four months more, then comes the harvest’? But I tell you, look around you, and see how the fields are ripe for harvesting.^{(A) 36} The reaper is already receiving^[a] wages and is gathering fruit for eternal life, so that sower and reaper may rejoice together.^{(B) 37} For here the saying holds true, ‘One sows and another reaps.’^{(C) 38} I sent you to reap that for which you did not labor. Others have labored, and you have entered into their labor.”

⁷ “Who among you would say to your slave who has just come in from plowing or tending sheep in the field, ‘Come here at once and take your place at the table’? ⁸ Would you not rather say to him, ‘Prepare supper for me; put on your apron and serve me while I eat and drink; later you may eat and drink’?^(A)

²² And if those days had not been cut short, no one would be saved, but for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.^(A)
