⁵ For although there may be ^(A)so-called gods in heaven or on earth—as indeed there are many “gods” and many “lords”—

⁴ who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, ^(A)proclaiming himself to be God.

Paul's Concern for the Galatians

⁸ Formerly, when you ^(A)did not know God, you ^(B)were enslaved to those that by nature ^(C)are not gods.

^13 (A)For your gods have become as many as your cities, O Judah, and as many as the streets of Jerusalem are the altars you have set up to shame, ^(B)altars to make offerings to Baal.

¹⁷ For the Lord your God is ^(A)God of gods and ^(B)Lord of lords, ^(C)the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who is ^(D)not partial and takes no bribe.

³⁴ Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in ^(A)your Law, ^(B)‘I said, you are gods’? ³⁵ If he called them gods to whom the word of God came—and Scripture cannot be ^(C)broken—

⁴ They drank wine and ^(A)praised the ^(B)gods of gold and silver, bronze, iron, wood, and stone.
