⁷ For ^(A)I wish that all men were even as I myself. But each one has his own gift from God, one in this manner and another in that.

Jesus Teaches on Celibacy

¹¹ But He said to them, ^(A)“All cannot accept this saying, but only those to whom it has been given: ¹² For there are ^[a]eunuchs who were born thus from their mother’s womb, and ^(B)there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He who is able to accept it, let him accept it.”

⁵ Do we have no right to take along ^[a]a believing wife, as do also the other apostles, ^(A)the brothers of the Lord, and ^(B)Cephas?

⁶ Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is ^(A)given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us ^(B)prophesy in proportion to our faith;

^4 (A)There are ^[a]diversities of gifts, but ^(B)the same Spirit.

⁸ But I say to the unmarried and to the widows: ^(A)It is good for them if they remain even as I am;

¹¹ But one and the same Spirit works all these things, ^(A)distributing to each one individually ^(B)as He wills.

²⁹ And Paul said, ^(A)“I would to God that not only you, but also all who hear me today, might become both almost and altogether such as I am, except for these chains.”

¹⁵ But ^(A)I have used none of these things, nor have I written these things that it should be done so to me; for ^(B)it would be better for me to die than that anyone should make my boasting void.
