²³ You were bought with a price; do not become slaves of humans.^(A)

²⁰ For you were bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body.^(A)

¹⁴ He it is who gave himself for us that he might redeem us from all iniquity and purify for himself a people of his own who are zealous for good deeds.^(A)

⁴² For they are my servants whom I brought out of the land of Egypt; they shall not be sold as slaves are sold.

⁹ They sing a new song:

¹⁸ You know that you were ransomed from the futile conduct inherited from your ancestors, not with perishable things like silver or gold ¹⁹ but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without defect or blemish.^(A)

⁴ But because of false brothers and sisters secretly brought in, who slipped in to spy on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus, so that they might enslave us^(A)—

²⁸ Keep watch over yourselves and over all the flock, of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God^[a] that he obtained with the blood of his own Son.^[b](A)

¹⁸ For Christ also suffered^[a] for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, in order to bring you^[b] to God. He was put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit,^(A)

⁸ But you are not to be called rabbi, for you have one teacher, and you are all brothers and sisters.^{(A) 9} And call no one your father on earth, for you have one Father, the one in heaven.^{(B) 10} Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one instructor, the Messiah.^{[a] 11} The greatest among you will be your servant.^(C)
