¹⁴ I do not write these things ^(A)to make you ashamed, but to admonish you ^(B)as my beloved children.

¹¹ For you know how, ^(A)like a father with his children,

¹⁵ But ^(A)I have made no use of any of these rights, nor am I writing these things to secure any such provision. For I would rather die than have anyone ^(B)deprive me of my ground for boasting.

¹⁵ For ^(A)though you have countless^[a] guides in Christ, you do not have many fathers. For ^(B)I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel.

⁴ I have no greater joy than to hear that ^(A)my children are walking in the truth.

¹⁴ And we urge you, brothers, admonish ^(A)the idle,^{[a] (B)}encourage the fainthearted, ^(C)help the weak, ^(D)be patient with them all.

²⁸ Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that ^(A)we may present everyone ^(B)mature in Christ.

¹⁹ Have you been thinking all along that we have been defending ourselves to you? It is ^(A)in the sight of God that we have been speaking in Christ, and ^(B)all for your upbuilding, beloved.

¹⁴ Here ^(A)for the third time I am ready to come to you. And I will not be a burden, for ^(B)I seek not what is yours but you. For ^(C)children are not obligated to save up for their parents, but ^(D)parents for their children. ^15 (E)I will most gladly spend and be spent for your souls. If ^(F)I love you more, am I to be loved less?

¹¹ And why? ^(A)Because I do not love you? ^(B)God knows I do!
