²² whether Paul or Apollos^(A) or Cephas^[a](B) or the world or life or death or the present or the future^(C)—all are yours,

²¹ For to me, to live is Christ^(A) and to die is gain.

¹¹ So Christ himself gave^(A) the apostles,^(B) the prophets,^(C) the evangelists,^(D) the pastors and teachers,^{(E) 12} to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ^(F) may be built up^(G)

⁵ For what we preach is not ourselves,^(A) but Jesus Christ as Lord,^(B) and ourselves as your servants^(C) for Jesus’ sake.

Paul’s Use of His Freedom

¹⁹ Though I am free^(A) and belong to no one, I have made myself a slave to everyone,^(B) to win as many as possible.^{(C) 20} To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews.^(D) To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law),^(E) so as to win those under the law. ²¹ To those not having the law I became like one not having the law^(F) (though I am not free from God’s law but am under Christ’s law),^(G) so as to win those not having the law. ²² To the weak I became weak, to win the weak.^(H) I have become all things to all people^(I) so that by all possible means I might save some.^(J)

⁵ What, after all, is Apollos?^(A) And what is Paul? Only servants,^(B) through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. ⁶ I planted the seed,^(C) Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. ⁷ So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. ⁸ The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor.^(D)

³⁷ No, in all these things we are more than conquerors^(A) through him who loved us.^{(B) 38} For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,^[a] neither the present nor the future,^(C) nor any powers,^{(D) 39} neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God^(E) that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.^(F)

¹² What I mean is this: One of you says, “I follow Paul”;^(A) another, “I follow Apollos”;^(B) another, “I follow Cephas^[a]”;^(C) still another, “I follow Christ.”
