¹⁷ If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.

¹⁸ Shun sexual immorality!^[a] Every sin that a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person^[b] sins against the body itself.^{(A) 19} Or do you not know that your body is a temple^[c] of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God, and that you are not your own?^{(B) 20} For you were bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body.^(C)

¹² This is the law of the temple: the whole territory on the top of the mountain all around shall be most holy. This is the law of the temple.^(A)

¹¹ Therefore, as I live, says the Lord God, surely, because you have defiled my sanctuary with all your detestable things and with all your abominations, therefore I will withdraw; my eye will not spare, and I will have no pity.^(A)

²⁰ Any who are unclean but do not purify themselves, those persons shall be cut off from the assembly, for they have defiled the sanctuary of the Lord. Since the water for cleansing has not been dashed on them, they are unclean.^(A)

³⁸ Moreover, this they have done to me: they have defiled my sanctuary on the same day and profaned my Sabbaths. ³⁹ For when they had slaughtered their children for their idols, on the same day they came into my sanctuary to profane it. This is what they did in my house.^(A)

Plea for Mercy for Jerusalem

³ I myself will set my face against them and will cut them off from the people, because they have given of their offspring to Molech, defiling my sanctuary and profaning my holy name.^(A)
