¹⁷ If anyone ^[a]defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.

^18 (A)Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins ^(B)against his own body. ¹⁹ Or ^(C)do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, ^(D)and you are not your own? ²⁰ For ^(E)you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body ^[a]and in your spirit, which are God’s.

¹² This is the law of the ^[a]temple: The whole area surrounding ^(A)the mountaintop is most holy. Behold, this is the law of the temple.

¹¹ ‘Therefore, as I live,’ says the Lord God, ‘surely, because you have ^(A)defiled My sanctuary with all your ^(B)detestable things and with all your abominations, therefore I will also diminish you; ^(C)My eye will not spare, nor will I have any pity.

²⁰ ‘But the man who is unclean and does not purify himself, that person shall be cut off from among the assembly, because he has ^(A)defiled the sanctuary of the Lord. The water of purification has not been sprinkled on him; he is unclean.

³⁸ Moreover they have done this to Me: They have ^(A)defiled My sanctuary on the same day and ^(B)profaned My Sabbaths. ³⁹ For after they had slain their children for their idols, on the same day they came into My sanctuary to profane it; and indeed ^(C)thus they have done in the midst of My house.
