¹¹ For no one can lay any foundation other than the one that has been laid; that foundation is Jesus Christ.^(A)

²⁰ built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone;^[a](A)

¹⁹ But God’s firm foundation stands, bearing this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Let everyone who calls on the name of the Lord turn away from wickedness.”^(A)

⁶ For it stands in scripture:

⁷ This honor, then, is for you who believe, but for those who do not believe,^[a]

⁸ and

They stumble because they disobey the word, as they were destined to do.^(C)

¹¹ This Jesus^[a] is

¹² “There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among mortals by which we must be saved.”^(B)

¹⁸ And I tell you, you are Peter,^[a] and on this rock^[b] I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.^(A)

⁷ not that there is another gospel, but there are some who are confusing you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ.^{(A) 8} But even if we or an angel^[a] from heaven should proclaim to you a gospel contrary to what we proclaimed to you, let that one be accursed!^{(B) 9} As we have said before, so now I repeat, if anyone proclaims to you a gospel contrary to what you received, let that one be accursed!

² I feel a divine jealousy for you, for I promised you in marriage to one husband, to present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.^{(A) 3} But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by its cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure^[a] devotion to Christ.^{(B) 4} For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it readily enough.^(C)
