⁹ for ^(A)a wide door for effective work has opened to me, and ^(B)there are many adversaries.

Triumph in Christ

¹² When ^(A)I came to Troas to preach the gospel of Christ, even though ^(B)a door was opened for me in the Lord,

²⁷ And when they arrived and gathered the church together, ^(A)they declared all that God had done with them, and ^(B)how he had ^(C)opened ^(D)a door of faith to the Gentiles.

³ At the same time, pray also for us, that God may ^(A)open to us a door for the word, ^(B)to declare the mystery of Christ, ^(C)on account of which I am in prison—

To the Church in Philadelphia

⁷ “And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: ‘The words of ^(A)the holy one, ^(B)the true one, ^(C)who has the key of David, ^(D)who opens and no one will shut, who shuts and no one opens.

⁸ “‘I know your works. Behold, I have set before you ^(E)an open door, which no one is able to shut. I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.

⁸ For we do not want you to be unaware, brothers,^[a] of ^(A)the affliction we experienced in Asia. For we were so utterly burdened beyond our strength that we despaired of life itself. ⁹ Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But that was to make us ^(B)rely not on ourselves ^(C)but on God ^(D)who raises the dead. ^10 (E)He delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. ^(F)On him we have set our hope that he will deliver us again.

¹⁸ For ^(A)many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you ^(B)even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ.

³² What do I gain if, humanly speaking, ^(A)I fought with beasts at Ephesus? If the dead are not raised, ^(B)“Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.”

⁸ And ^(A)he entered the synagogue and for three months spoke boldly, reasoning and persuading them ^(B)about the kingdom of God. ^9 (C)But when some became stubborn and ^(D)continued in unbelief, speaking evil of ^(E)the Way before the congregation, he withdrew from them and took the disciples with him, reasoning daily in the hall of Tyrannus.^{[a] 10} This continued for ^(F)two years, so that ^(G)all the residents of Asia heard the word of the Lord, both Jews and Greeks.
