^19 (A)If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable.

¹³ Then I heard a voice from heaven saying ^[a]to me, “Write: ^(A)‘Blessed are the dead ^(B)who die in the Lord from now on.’ ”

“Yes,” says the Spirit, ^(C)“that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow ^(D)them.”

²¹ who through Him believe in God, ^(A)who raised Him from the dead and ^(B)gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.

¹² For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, ^(A)for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.

⁹ For I think that God has displayed us, the apostles, last, as men condemned to death; for we have been made a ^(A)spectacle ^[a]to the world, both to angels and to men. ¹⁰ We are ^(B)fools for Christ’s sake, but you are wise in Christ! ^(C)We are weak, but you are strong! You are distinguished, but we are dishonored! ¹¹ To the present hour we both hunger and thirst, and we are poorly clothed, and beaten, and homeless. ^12 (D)And we labor, working with our own hands. ^(E)Being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we endure; ¹³ being defamed, we ^[b]entreat. ^(F)We have been made as the filth of the world, the offscouring of all things until now.

²² strengthening the souls of the disciples, ^(A)exhorting them to continue in the faith, and saying, ^(B)“We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God.”

¹² Yes, and ^(A)all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.

^12 (A)that we ^(B)who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.

¹³ In Him you also trusted, after you heard ^(C)the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, ^(D)you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,

³³ These things I have spoken to you, that ^(A)in Me you may have peace. ^(B)In the world you ^[a]will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, ^(C)I have overcome the world.”
