³⁵ If there is something they want to learn, let them ask their husbands at home.^[a] For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church.^[b]

¹² For it is shameful even to mention what such people do secretly,

⁷ Husbands, in the same way, show consideration for your wives in your life together, paying honor to the woman—though the weaker vessel,^[a] they are joint heirs of the gracious gift of life—so that nothing may hinder your prayers.^(A)

²⁵ Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her ²⁶ in order to make her holy by cleansing her with the washing of water by the word, ²⁷ so as to present the church to himself in splendor, without a spot or wrinkle or anything of the kind, so that she may be holy and without blemish.^(A)

³⁴ Women should be silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak but should be subordinate, as the law also says.^(A)

¹⁴ Does not nature itself teach you that, if a man wears long hair, it is dishonoring to him,

⁶ For if a woman will not veil herself, then she should cut off her hair, but if it is shameful for a woman to have her hair cut off or to be shaved, she should wear a veil.
