¹² So with yourselves: since you are striving after spiritual gifts, seek to excel in them for building up the church.

Orderly Worship

²⁶ What should be done then, my brothers and sisters? When you come together, each one has a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Let all things be done for building up.^(A)

³ But those who prophesy speak to other people for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation.^{(A) 4} Those who speak in a tongue build up themselves, but those who prophesy build up the church.

Gifts of Prophecy and Tongues

14 Pursue love and strive for the spiritual gifts and especially that you may prophesy.^(A)

³¹ But strive for the greater gifts. And I will show you a still more excellent way.^(A)

¹⁴ He it is who gave himself for us that he might redeem us from all iniquity and purify for himself a people of his own who are zealous for good deeds.^(A)

⁷ To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.^(A)
