Head Coverings

² Now I commend you ^(A)because you remember me in everything and ^(B)maintain the traditions ^(C)even as I delivered them to you.

¹⁵ So then, brothers, ^(A)stand firm and hold to ^(B)the traditions that you were taught by us, either ^(C)by our spoken word or by ^(D)our letter.

¹⁷ That is why ^(A)I sent^[a] you Timothy, ^(B)my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, to remind you of my ways in Christ,^{[b] (C)}as I teach them everywhere in every church.

Warning Against Idleness

⁶ Now we command you, brothers, ^(A)in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, ^(B)that you keep away from any ^(C)brother ^(D)who is walking in idleness and not in accord with the tradition that you received from us.

² and by which ^(A)you are being saved, if you ^(B)hold fast to the word I preached to you—^(C)unless you believed in vain.

²² What! Do you not have houses to eat and drink in? Or do you despise ^(A)the church of God and ^(B)humiliate those who have nothing? What shall I say to you? Shall I commend you in this? No, I will not.

The Lord's Supper

¹⁷ But in the following instructions I do not commend you, because when you come together it is not for the better but for the worse.

A Life Pleasing to God

4 Finally, then, brothers,^[a] we ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you ^(A)received from us ^(B)how you ought to walk and ^(C)to please God, just as you are doing, that you ^(D)do so more and more. ² For ^(E)you know what instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus.
