Sexual Immorality

¹² “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial.^(A) “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything.

⁹ Be careful, however, that the exercise of your rights does not become a stumbling block^(A) to the weak.^(B)

²⁹ Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths,^(A) but only what is helpful for building others up^(B) according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

¹⁹ Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace^(A) and to mutual edification.^{(B) 20} Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food.^(C) All food is clean,^(D) but it is wrong for a person to eat anything that causes someone else to stumble.^(E)

¹¹ Therefore encourage one another^(A) and build each other up,^(B) just as in fact you are doing.

15 We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak^(A) and not to please ourselves. ² Each of us should please our neighbors for their good,^(B) to build them up.^(C)

¹⁵ If your brother or sister is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer acting in love.^(A) Do not by your eating destroy someone for whom Christ died.^(B)

¹⁷ You are giving thanks well enough, but no one else is edified.^(A)

Good Order in Worship

²⁶ What then shall we say, brothers and sisters?^(A) When you come together, each of you^(B) has a hymn,^(C) or a word of instruction,^(D) a revelation, a tongue^(E) or an interpretation.^(F) Everything must be done so that the church may be built up.^(G)
