¹² What I mean is this: One of you says, “I follow Paul”;^(A) another, “I follow Apollos”;^(B) another, “I follow Cephas^[a]”;^(C) still another, “I follow Christ.”

²¹ So then, no more boasting about human leaders!^(A) All things are yours,^{(B) 22} whether Paul or Apollos^(C) or Cephas^[a](D) or the world or life or death or the present or the future^(E)—all are yours, ²³ and you are of Christ,^(F) and Christ is of God.

⁴² And he brought him to Jesus.

Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon son of John. You will be called^(A) Cephas” (which, when translated, is Peter^[a]).^(B)

⁹ And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father,^(A) and he is in heaven. ¹⁰ Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one Instructor, the Messiah.

⁴ For when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,”^(A) are you not mere human beings?

⁵ What, after all, is Apollos?^(B) And what is Paul? Only servants,^(C) through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. ⁶ I planted the seed,^(D) Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.

¹⁷ What I mean is this: The law, introduced 430 years^(A) later, does not set aside the covenant previously established by God and thus do away with the promise.

⁹ James,^(A) Cephas^[a](B) and John, those esteemed as pillars,^(C) gave me and Barnabas^(D) the right hand of fellowship when they recognized the grace given to me.^(E) They agreed that we should go to the Gentiles,^(F) and they to the circumcised.

Generosity Encouraged

⁶ Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.^(A)

¹² Now about our brother Apollos:^(A) I strongly urged him to go to you with the brothers. He was quite unwilling to go now, but he will go when he has the opportunity.
