¹⁵ For ^(A)though you have countless^[a] guides in Christ, you do not have many fathers. For ^(B)I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel. ¹⁶ I urge you, then, ^(C)be imitators of me. ¹⁷ That is why ^(D)I sent^[b] you Timothy, ^(E)my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, to remind you of my ways in Christ,^{[c] (F)}as I teach them everywhere in every church.

11 ^(A)Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.

¹⁷ Brothers, ^(A)join in imitating me, and keep your eyes on those who walk ^(B)according to the example you have in us.

⁹ What you have learned^[a] and ^(A)received and heard and seen ^(B)in me—practice these things, and ^(C)the God of peace will be with you.

⁷ For you yourselves know ^(A)how you ought to imitate us, because ^(B)we were not idle when we were with you, ⁸ nor did we eat anyone's bread without paying for it, but ^(C)with toil and labor we worked night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you. ⁹ It was ^(D)not because we do not have that right, but to give you in ourselves ^(E)an example to imitate.

^10 (A)You, however, have followed my teaching, my conduct, my aim in life, my faith, my patience, my love, my steadfastness, ¹¹ my persecutions and sufferings that happened to me ^(B)at Antioch, ^(C)at Iconium, and ^(D)at Lystra—which persecutions I endured; yet ^(E)from them all ^(F)the Lord rescued me.
