4 Fils de Juda: Pérets, Hetsron, Carmi, Hur et Schobal.
2 Reaja, fils de Schobal, engendra Jachath; Jachath engendra Achumaï et Lahad. Ce sont les familles des Tsoreathiens.
3 Voici les descendants du père d'Étham: Jizreel, Jischma et Jidbasch; le nom de leur soeur était Hatselelponi.
4 Penuel était père de Guedor, et Ézer père de Huscha. Ce sont là les fils de Hur, premier-né d'Éphrata, père de Bethléhem.
5 Aschchur, père de Tekoa, eut deux femmes, Hélea et Naara.
6 Naara lui enfanta Achuzzam, Hépher, Thémeni et Achaschthari: ce sont là les fils de Naara.
7 Fils de Hélea: Tséreth, Tsochar et Ethnan.
8 Kots engendra Anub et Hatsobéba, et les familles d'Acharchel, fils d'Harum.
9 Jaebets était plus considéré que ses frères; sa mère lui donna le nom de Jaebets, en disant: C'est parce que je l'ai enfanté avec douleur.
10 Jaebets invoqua le Dieu d'Israël, en disant: Si tu me bénis et que tu étendes mes limites, si ta main est avec moi, et si tu me préserves du malheur, en sorte que je ne sois pas dans la souffrance!... Et Dieu accorda ce qu'il avait demandé.
11 Kelub, frère de Schucha, engendra Mechir, qui fut père d'Eschthon.
12 Eschthon engendra la maison de Rapha, Paséach, et Thechinna, père de la ville de Nachasch. Ce sont là les hommes de Réca.
13 Fils de Kenaz: Othniel et Seraja. Fils d'Othniel: Hathath.
14 Meonothaï engendra Ophra. Seraja engendra Joab, père de la vallée des ouvriers; car ils étaient ouvriers.
15 Fils de Caleb, fils de Jephunné: Iru, Éla et Naam, et les fils d'Éla, et Kenaz.
16 Fils de Jehalléleel: Ziph, Zipha, Thirja et Asareel.
17 Fils d'Esdras: Jéther, Méred, Épher et Jalon. La femme de Méred enfanta Miriam, Schammaï, et Jischbach, père d'Eschthemoa.
18 Sa femme, la Juive, enfanta Jéred, père de Guedor, Héber, père de Soco, et Jekuthiel, père de Zanoach. Ceux-là sont les fils de Bithja, fille de Pharaon, que Méred prit pour femme.
19 Fils de la femme d'Hodija, soeur de Nacham: le père de Kehila, le Garmien, et Eschthemoa, le Maacathien.
20 Fils de Simon: Amnon, Rinna, Ben Hanan et Thilon. Fils de Jischeï: Zocheth et Ben Zocheth.
21 Fils de Schéla, fils de Juda: Er, père de Léca, Laeda, père de Maréscha, et les familles de la maison où l'on travaille le byssus, de la maison d'Aschbéa,
22 et Jokim, et les hommes de Cozéba, et Joas et Saraph, qui dominèrent sur Moab, et Jaschubi Léchem. Ces choses sont anciennes.
23 C'étaient les potiers et les habitants des plantations et des parcs; ils demeuraient là près du roi et travaillaient pour lui.
24 Fils de Siméon: Nemuel, Jamin, Jarib, Zérach, Saül.
25 Fils de Saül: Schallum. Mibsam, son fils; Mischma, son fils.
26 Fils de Mischma: Hammuel, son fils. Zaccur, son fils; Schimeï, son fils.
27 Schimeï eut seize fils et six filles. Ses frères n'eurent pas beaucoup de fils. Et toutes leurs familles ne se multiplièrent pas autant que les fils de Juda.
28 Ils habitaient à Beer Schéba, à Molada, à Hatsar Schual,
29 à Bilha, à Etsem, à Tholad,
30 à Bethuel, à Horma, à Tsiklag,
31 à Beth Marcaboth, à Hatsar Susim, à Beth Bireï et à Schaaraïm. Ce furent là leurs villes jusqu'au règne de David, et leurs villages.
32 Ils avaient encore Etham, Aïn, Rimmon, Thoken et Aschan, cinq villes;
33 et tous les villages aux environs de ces villes, jusqu'à Baal. Voilà leurs habitations et leur généalogie.
34 Meschobab; Jamlec; Joscha, fils d'Amatsia;
35 Joël; Jéhu, fils de Joschibia, fils de Seraja, fils d'Asiel;
36 Eljoénaï; Jaakoba; Jeschochaja; Asaja; Adiel; Jesimiel; Benaja;
37 Ziza, fils de Schipheï, fils d'Allon, fils de Jedaja, fils de Schimri, fils de Schemaeja.
38 Ceux-là, désignés par leurs noms, étaient princes dans leurs familles, et leurs maisons paternelles prirent un grand accroissement.
39 Ils allèrent du côté de Guedor jusqu'à l'orient de la vallée, afin de chercher des pâturages pour leurs troupeaux.
40 Ils trouvèrent de gras et bons pâturages, et un pays vaste, tranquille et paisible, car ceux qui l'habitaient auparavant descendaient de Cham.
41 Ces hommes, inscrits par leurs noms, arrivèrent du temps d'Ézéchias, roi de Juda; ils attaquèrent leurs tentes et les Maonites qui se trouvaient là, ils les dévouèrent par interdit jusqu'à ce jour, et ils s'établirent à leur place, car il y avait là des pâturages pour leurs troupeaux.
42 Il y eut aussi des fils de Siméon qui allèrent à la montagne de Séir, au nombre de cinq cents hommes. Ils avaient à leur tête Pelathia, Nearia, Rephaja et Uziel, fils de Jischeï.
43 Ils battirent le reste des réchappés d'Amalek, et ils s'établirent là jusqu'à ce jour.

4 Judah’s sons:(A) Perez, Hezron, Carmi, Hur, and Shobal.
2 Reaiah son of Shobal fathered Jahath, and Jahath fathered Ahumai and Lahad.
These were the families of the Zorathites.
3 These were Etam’s sons:[a] Jezreel, Ishma, and Idbash, and their sister was named Hazzelelponi.
4 Penuel fathered Gedor, and Ezer fathered Hushah.
These were the sons of Hur, Ephrathah’s firstborn and the father of Bethlehem:
5 Ashhur fathered Tekoa and had two wives, Helah and Naarah.
6 Naarah bore Ahuzzam, Hepher, Temeni, and Haahashtari to him. These were Naarah’s sons.
7 Helah’s sons: Zereth, Zohar,[b] and Ethnan. 8 Koz fathered Anub, Zobebah,[c] and the families of Aharhel son of Harum.
9 Jabez[d] was more honored than his brothers. His mother named him Jabez and said, “I gave birth to him in pain.”
10 Jabez called out to the God of Israel, “If only you would bless me, extend my border, let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm, so that I will not experience pain.”[e] And God granted his request.
11 Chelub brother of Shuhah fathered Mehir, who was the father of Eshton. 12 Eshton fathered Beth-rapha, Paseah, and Tehinnah the father of Irnahash. These were the men of Recah.
13 Kenaz’s sons: Othniel and Seraiah.
Othniel’s sons: Hathath and Meonothai.[f]
14 Meonothai fathered Ophrah,
and Seraiah fathered Joab, the ancestor of those in the Craftsmen’s Valley,[g] for they were craftsmen.
15 The sons of Caleb son of Jephunneh: Iru, Elah, and Naam.
Elah’s son: Kenaz.
16 Jehallelel’s sons: Ziph, Ziphah, Tiria, and Asarel.
17 Ezrah’s sons: Jether, Mered, Epher, and Jalon. Mered’s wife Bithiah gave birth to Miriam, Shammai, and Ishbah the father of Eshtemoa. 18 These were the sons of Pharaoh’s daughter Bithiah; Mered had married her. His Judean wife gave birth to Jered the father of Gedor, Heber the father of Soco, and Jekuthiel the father of Zanoah. 19 The sons of Hodiah’s wife, the sister of Naham: the father of Keilah the Garmite and the father of Eshtemoa the Maacathite.
20 Shimon’s sons: Amnon, Rinnah, Ben-hanan, and Tilon.
Ishi’s sons: Zoheth and Ben-zoheth.
21 The sons of Shelah son of Judah: Er the father of Lecah, Laadah the father of Mareshah, the families of the guild[h] of linen workers at Beth-ashbea, 22 Jokim, the men of Cozeba; and Joash and Saraph, who married Moabites[i] and returned to Lehem.[j] These names are from ancient records. 23 They were the potters and residents of Netaim and Gederah. They lived there in the service of the king.
Simeon’s Descendants
24 Simeon’s sons:(B) Nemuel, Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, and Shaul;
25 Shaul’s sons: his son Shallum, his son Mibsam, and his son Mishma.
26 Mishma’s sons: his son Hammuel, his son Zaccur, and his son Shimei.
27 Shimei had sixteen sons and six daughters, but his brothers did not have many children, so their whole family did not become as numerous as the Judeans. 28 They lived in Beer-sheba, Moladah, Hazar-shual, 29 Bilhah, Ezem, Tolad, 30 Bethuel, Hormah, Ziklag, 31 Beth-marcaboth, Hazar-susim, Beth-biri, and Shaaraim. These were their cities until David became king. 32 Their villages were Etam, Ain, Rimmon, Tochen, and Ashan—five cities, 33 and all their surrounding villages as far as Baal. These were their settlements, and they kept a genealogical record for themselves.
34 Meshobab, Jamlech, Joshah son of Amaziah,
35 Joel, Jehu son of Joshibiah, son of Seraiah, son of Asiel,
36 Elioenai, Jaakobah, Jeshohaiah, Asaiah, Adiel, Jesimiel, Benaiah, 37 and Ziza son of Shiphi, son of Allon, son of Jedaiah, son of Shimri, son of Shemaiah—
38 these mentioned by name were leaders in their families. Their ancestral houses increased greatly. 39 They went to the entrance of Gedor, to the east side of the valley to seek pasture for their flocks. 40 They found rich, good pasture, and the land was broad, peaceful, and quiet,(C) for some Hamites had lived there previously.
41 These(D) who were recorded by name came in the days of King Hezekiah of Judah, attacked the Hamites’ tents and the Meunites who were found there, and set them apart for destruction,(E) as they are today. Then they settled in their place because there was pasture for their flocks. 42 Now five hundred men from these sons of Simeon went with Pelatiah, Neariah, Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the descendants of Ishi, as their leaders to Mount Seir.(F) 43 They struck down(G) the remnant of the Amalekites who had escaped, and they still live there today.

4 Los hijos de Judá fueron Pérez, Hazrón, Carmi, Hur y Sobal(A). 2 Reaía, hijo de Sobal, fue padre de Jahat, y Jahat fue el padre de Ahumai y de Lahad. Estas fueron las familias de los zoratitas. 3 Estos fueron los hijos de Etam: Jezreel, Isma e Ibdas; y el nombre de su hermana era Hazelelponi. 4 Penuel fue el padre de Gedor, y Ezer, padre de Husa. 4 The descendants of Judah:(A)
Perez, Hezron,(B) Karmi, Hur and Shobal.
2 Reaiah son of Shobal was the father of Jahath, and Jahath the father of Ahumai and Lahad. These were the clans of the Zorathites.
3 These were the sons[a] of Etam:
Jezreel, Ishma and Idbash. Their sister was named Hazzelelponi. 4 Penuel was the father of Gedor, and Ezer the father of Hushah.

15 The sons of Caleb son of Jephunneh:
Iru, Elah and Naam.
The son of Elah:
Kenaz.
16 The sons of Jehallelel:
Ziph, Ziphah, Tiria and Asarel.
17 The sons of Ezrah:
Jether, Mered, Epher and Jalon. One of Mered’s wives gave birth to Miriam,(G) Shammai and Ishbah the father of Eshtemoa. 18 (His wife from the tribe of Judah gave birth to Jered the father of Gedor, Heber the father of Soko, and Jekuthiel the father of Zanoah.(H)) These were the children of Pharaoh’s daughter Bithiah, whom Mered had married.
19 The sons of Hodiah’s wife, the sister of Naham:
the father of Keilah(I) the Garmite, and Eshtemoa the Maakathite.(J)
20 The sons of Shimon:
Amnon, Rinnah, Ben-Hanan and Tilon.
The descendants of Ishi:
Zoheth and Ben-Zoheth.
21 The sons of Shelah(K) son of Judah:

38 The men listed above by name were leaders of their clans. Their families increased greatly, 39 and they went to the outskirts of Gedor(W) to the east of the valley in search of pasture for their flocks. 40 They found rich, good pasture, and the land was spacious, peaceful and quiet.(X) Some Hamites had lived there formerly.
41 The men whose names were listed came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah. They attacked the Hamites in their dwellings and also the Meunites(Y) who were there and completely destroyed[h] them, as is evident to this day. Then they settled in their place, because there was pasture for their flocks. 42 And five hundred of these Simeonites, led by Pelatiah, Neariah, Rephaiah and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi, invaded the hill country of Seir.(Z) 43 They killed the remaining Amalekites(AA) who had escaped, and they have lived there to this day.
