3 Puis David battit Hadadézer, roi de Tsoba, du côté de Hamath[a], pendant qu’il était en campagne pour établir sa domination sur la région de l’Euphrate. 4 David lui captura mille chars, sept mille soldats sur char et vingt mille fantassins. Il conserva une centaine de chevaux d’attelage et fit couper les jarrets à tous les autres. 5 Les Syriens de Damas envoyèrent du secours à Hadadézer, roi de Tsoba, mais David battit également les Syriens au nombre de vingt-deux mille hommes.

3 Moreover, David defeated Hadadezer king of Zobah,(A) in the vicinity of Hamath, when he went to set up his monument at[a] the Euphrates River.(B) 4 David captured a thousand of his chariots, seven thousand charioteers and twenty thousand foot soldiers. He hamstrung(C) all but a hundred of the chariot horses.
5 When the Arameans of Damascus(D) came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David struck down twenty-two thousand of them.

3 David venció también a Hadad-ézer, rey de Sobá, que está en dirección de Hamat, cuando éste iba a imponer su dominio sobre la región del río Éufrates. 4 De ellos, David capturó mil carros de combate e hizo prisioneros a siete mil soldados de caballería y a veinte mil de infantería; y además les rompió las patas a todos los caballos de los carros de combate, con la excepción de los caballos necesarios para cien carros.
5 Llegaron luego los sirios de Damasco para prestar ayuda a Hadad-ézer, el rey de Sobá, pero David venció a los sirios, matando a veintidós mil de ellos.

3 And (A)David [a]defeated [b]Hadadezer king of Zobah as far as Hamath, as he went to establish his power by the River Euphrates. 4 David took from him one thousand chariots, [c]seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand foot soldiers. Also David [d]hamstrung all the chariot horses, except that he spared enough of them for one hundred chariots.
5 When the (B)Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David killed twenty-two thousand of the Syrians.
