16 Après qu'on eut amené l'arche de Dieu, on la plaça au milieu de la tente que David avait dressée pour elle, et l'on offrit devant Dieu des holocaustes et des sacrifices d'actions de grâces.
2 Quand David eut achevé d'offrir les holocaustes et les sacrifices d'actions de grâces, il bénit le peuple au nom de l'Éternel.
3 Puis il distribua à tous ceux d'Israël, hommes et femmes, à chacun un pain, une portion de viande et un gâteau de raisins.
4 Il remit à des Lévites la charge de faire le service devant l'arche de l'Éternel, d'invoquer, de louer et de célébrer l'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël.
5 C'étaient: Asaph, le chef; Zacharie, le second après lui, Jeïel, Schemiramoth, Jehiel, Matthithia, Éliab, Benaja, Obed Édom et Jeïel. Ils avaient des instruments de musique, des luths et des harpes; et Asaph faisait retentir les cymbales.
6 Les sacrificateurs Benaja et Jachaziel sonnaient continuellement des trompettes devant l'arche de l'alliance de Dieu.
7 Ce fut en ce jour que David chargea pour la première fois Asaph et ses frères de célébrer les louanges de l'Éternel.
8 Louez l'Éternel, invoquez son nom! Faites connaître parmi les peuples ses hauts faits!
9 Chantez, chantez en son honneur! Parlez de toutes ses merveilles!
10 Glorifiez-vous de son saint nom! Que le coeur de ceux qui cherchent l'Éternel se réjouisse!
11 Ayez recours à l'Éternel et à son appui, Cherchez continuellement sa face!
12 Souvenez-vous des prodiges qu'il a faits, De ses miracles et des jugements de sa bouche,
13 Race d'Israël, son serviteur, Enfants de Jacob, ses élus!
14 L'Éternel est notre Dieu; Ses jugements s'exercent sur toute la terre.
15 Rappelez-vous à toujours son alliance, Ses promesses pour mille générations,
16 L'alliance qu'il a traitée avec Abraham, Et le serment qu'il a fait à Isaac;
17 Il l'a érigé pour Jacob en loi, Pour Israël en alliance éternelle,
18 Disant: Je te donnerai le pays de Canaan Comme l'héritage qui vous est échu.
19 Ils étaient alors peu nombreux, Très peu nombreux, et étrangers dans le pays,
20 Et ils allaient d'une nation à l'autre Et d'un royaume vers un autre peuple;
21 Mais il ne permit à personne de les opprimer, Et il châtia des rois à cause d'eux:
22 Ne touchez pas à mes oints, Et ne faites pas de mal à mes prophètes!
23 Chantez à l'Éternel, vous tous habitants de la terre! Annoncez de jour en jour son salut;
24 Racontez parmi les nations sa gloire, Parmi tous les peuples ses merveilles!
25 Car l'Éternel est grand et très digne de louange, Il est redoutable par-dessus tous les dieux;
26 Car tous les dieux des peuples sont des idoles, Et l'Éternel a fait les cieux.
27 La majesté et la splendeur sont devant sa face, La force et la joie sont dans sa demeure.
28 Familles des peuples, rendez à l'Éternel, Rendez à l'Éternel gloire et honneur!
29 Rendez à l'Éternel gloire pour son nom! Apportez des offrandes et venez en sa présence, Prosternez-vous devant l'Éternel avec de saints ornements!
30 Tremblez devant lui, vous tous habitants de la terre! Le monde est affermi, il ne chancelle point.
31 Que les cieux se réjouissent, et que la terre soit dans l'allégresse! Que l'on dise parmi les nations: L'Éternel règne!
32 Que la mer retentisse avec tout ce qu'elle contient! Que la campagne s'égaie avec tout ce qu'elle renferme!
33 Que les arbres des forêts poussent des cris de joie Devant l'Éternel! Car il vient pour juger la terre.
34 Louez l'Éternel, car il est bon, Car sa miséricorde dure à toujours!
35 Dites: Sauve-nous, Dieu de notre salut, Rassemble-nous, et retire-nous du milieu des nations, Afin que nous célébrions ton saint nom Et que nous mettions notre gloire à te louer!
36 Béni soit l'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël, D'éternité en éternité! Et que tout le peuple dise: Amen! Louez l'Éternel!
37 David laissa là, devant l'arche de l'alliance de l'Éternel, Asaph et ses frères, afin qu'ils fussent continuellement de service devant l'arche, remplissant leur tâche jour par jour.
38 Il laissa Obed Édom et Hosa avec leurs frères, au nombre de soixante-huit, Obed Édom, fils de Jeduthun, et Hosa, comme portiers.
39 Il établit le sacrificateur Tsadok et les sacrificateurs, ses frères, devant le tabernacle de l'Éternel, sur le haut lieu qui était à Gabaon,
40 pour qu'ils offrissent continuellement à l'Éternel des holocaustes, matin et soir, sur l'autel des holocaustes, et qu'ils accomplissent tout ce qui est écrit dans la loi de l'Éternel, imposée par l'Éternel à Israël.
41 Auprès d'eux étaient Héman et Jeduthun, et les autres qui avaient été choisis et désignés par leurs noms pour louer l'Éternel. Car sa miséricorde dure à toujours.
42 Auprès d'eux étaient Héman et Jeduthun, avec des trompettes et des cymbales pour ceux qui les faisaient retentir, et avec des instruments pour les cantiques en l'honneur de Dieu. Les fils de Jeduthun étaient portiers.
43 Tout le peuple s'en alla chacun dans sa maison, et David s'en retourna pour bénir sa maison.

Ministering Before the Ark(A)(B)(C)
16 They brought the ark of God and set it inside the tent that David had pitched(D) for it, and they presented burnt offerings and fellowship offerings before God. 2 After David had finished sacrificing the burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, he blessed(E) the people in the name of the Lord. 3 Then he gave a loaf of bread, a cake of dates and a cake of raisins(F) to each Israelite man and woman.
4 He appointed some of the Levites to minister(G) before the ark of the Lord, to extol,[a] thank, and praise the Lord, the God of Israel: 5 Asaph was the chief, and next to him in rank were Zechariah, then Jaaziel,[b] Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-Edom and Jeiel. They were to play the lyres and harps, Asaph was to sound the cymbals, 6 and Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests were to blow the trumpets regularly before the ark of the covenant of God.
7 That day David first appointed Asaph and his associates to give praise(H) to the Lord in this manner:
8 Give praise(I) to the Lord, proclaim his name;
make known among the nations(J) what he has done.
9 Sing to him, sing praise(K) to him;
tell of all his wonderful acts.
10 Glory in his holy name;(L)
let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.
11 Look to the Lord and his strength;
seek(M) his face always.
12 Remember(N) the wonders(O) he has done,
his miracles,(P) and the judgments he pronounced,
13 you his servants, the descendants of Israel,
his chosen ones, the children of Jacob.
14 He is the Lord our God;
his judgments(Q) are in all the earth.
15 He remembers[c](R) his covenant forever,
the promise he made, for a thousand generations,
16 the covenant(S) he made with Abraham,
the oath he swore to Isaac.
17 He confirmed it to Jacob(T) as a decree,
to Israel as an everlasting covenant:
18 “To you I will give the land of Canaan(U)
as the portion you will inherit.”
19 When they were but few in number,(V)
few indeed, and strangers in it,
20 they[d] wandered(W) from nation to nation,
from one kingdom to another.
21 He allowed no one to oppress them;
for their sake he rebuked kings:(X)
22 “Do not touch my anointed ones;
do my prophets(Y) no harm.”
23 Sing to the Lord, all the earth;
proclaim his salvation day after day.
24 Declare his glory(Z) among the nations,
his marvelous deeds among all peoples.
25 For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise;(AA)
he is to be feared(AB) above all gods.(AC)
26 For all the gods of the nations are idols,
but the Lord made the heavens.(AD)
27 Splendor and majesty are before him;
strength and joy are in his dwelling place.
28 Ascribe to the Lord, all you families of nations,
ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.(AE)
29 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;(AF)
bring an offering and come before him.
Worship the Lord in the splendor of his[e] holiness.(AG)
30 Tremble(AH) before him, all the earth!
The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved.(AI)
31 Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad;(AJ)
let them say among the nations, “The Lord reigns!(AK)”
32 Let the sea resound, and all that is in it;(AL)
let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them!
33 Let the trees(AM) of the forest sing,
let them sing for joy before the Lord,
for he comes to judge(AN) the earth.
34 Give thanks(AO) to the Lord, for he is good;(AP)
his love endures forever.(AQ)
35 Cry out, “Save us, God our Savior;(AR)
gather us and deliver us from the nations,
that we may give thanks to your holy name,
and glory in your praise.”
36 Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel,(AS)
from everlasting to everlasting.
Then all the people said “Amen” and “Praise the Lord.”
37 David left Asaph and his associates before the ark of the covenant of the Lord to minister there regularly, according to each day’s requirements.(AT) 38 He also left Obed-Edom(AU) and his sixty-eight associates to minister with them. Obed-Edom son of Jeduthun, and also Hosah,(AV) were gatekeepers.
39 David left Zadok(AW) the priest and his fellow priests before the tabernacle of the Lord at the high place in Gibeon(AX) 40 to present burnt offerings to the Lord on the altar of burnt offering regularly, morning and evening, in accordance with everything written in the Law(AY) of the Lord, which he had given Israel. 41 With them were Heman(AZ) and Jeduthun and the rest of those chosen and designated by name to give thanks to the Lord, “for his love endures forever.” 42 Heman and Jeduthun were responsible for the sounding of the trumpets and cymbals and for the playing of the other instruments for sacred song.(BA) The sons of Jeduthun(BB) were stationed at the gate.
43 Then all the people left, each for their own home, and David returned home to bless his family.

16 Und als sie die Lade Gottes hineinbrachten, setzten sie dieselbe mitten in das Zelt, welches David für sie aufgerichtet hatte; und sie opferten Brandopfer und Dankopfer vor Gott. 2 Und nachdem David die Brandopfer und Dankopfer vollbracht hatte, segnete er das Volk im Namen des Herrn 3 und teilte aus an jedermann in Israel, an Männer und Weiber, je einen Laib Brot, einen Trauben- und einen Rosinenkuchen.
4 Und er bestellte etliche Leviten zu Dienern vor der Lade des Herrn und daß sie preiseten, dankten und den Herrn, den Gott Israels, lobten: 5 nämlich Asaph als ersten, Sacharja als zweiten; nach ihm Jehiel, Semiramot, Jechiel, Mattitja, Eliab, Benaja, Obed-Edom und Jehiel, mit Psaltern und Harfen; Asaph aber, um mit Zimbeln laut zu spielen, 6 die Priester Benaja und Jehasiel aber mit Trompeten allezeit vor der Lade des Bundes Gottes.

7 Zu derselben Zeit ließ David vor allem dem Herrn danken durch Asaph und seine Brüder:
8 Danket dem Herrn, ruft seinen Namen an,
tut seine Taten kund unter den Völkern!
9 Singet ihm, lobsinget ihm,
redet von allen seinen Wundern!
10 Rühmet euch seines heiligen Namens!
Es freue sich das Herz derer, die den Herrn suchen.
11 Fraget nach dem Herrn und nach seiner Macht,
suchet sein Angesicht allezeit.
12 Gedenket seiner Wunderwerke, die er getan hat,
seiner Wunderzeichen und der Urteilssprüche seines Mundes!
13 Ihr, der Same Israels, seines Dieners,
ihr Kinder Jakobs, seine Auserwählten!
14 Er, der Herr, ist unser Gott;
seine Rechte gelten im ganzen Land.
15 Gedenket ewig an seinen Bund,
an das Wort, welches er geboten hat auf tausend Geschlechter hin;
16 an den Bund, den er gemacht hat mit Abraham,
und an seinen Eid mit Isaak.
17 Und er stellte ihn Jakob zur Satzung,
Israel zum ewigen Bund und sprach:
18 Ich will dir das Land Kanaan geben,
das Los eures Erbteils,
19 da ihr noch zu zählen waret, gar wenige und Fremdlinge darin.
20 Und sie zogen von einer Nation zur andern
und von einem Königreich zum andern Volk.
21 Er erlaubte keinem Menschen, sie zu beleidigen,
und strafte Könige um ihretwillen:
22 Tastet meine Gesalbten nicht an
und tut meinen Propheten kein Leid!
23 Singet dem Herrn, alle Lande; verkündigt Tag für Tag sein Heil!
24 Erzählet seine Herrlichkeit unter den Heiden
und seine Wunderwerke unter allen Völkern!
25 Denn groß ist der Herr und hochgelobt,
furchtbar ist er über alle Götter!
26 Denn alle Götter der Völker sind Götzen;
aber der Herr hat den Himmel gemacht.
27 Glanz und Pracht sind vor ihm,
Macht und Freude ist an seinem Ort.
28 Gebet dem Herrn, ihr Geschlechter der Völker,
gebet dem Herrn Ehre und Macht!
29 Gebet dem Herrn die Ehre seines Namens,
bringet Gaben und kommt vor ihn!
Betet an den Herrn in heiligem Schmuck!
30 Erzittert vor ihm, alle Lande!
Hat er doch den Erdkreis gefestigt, daß er nicht wankt!
31 Es freuen sich die Himmel, und die Erde juble,
und unter den Nationen soll man sagen: der Herr herrscht!
32 Es brause das Meer und was es erfüllt!
Es frohlocke das Feld und alles, was darauf ist!
33 Alsdann sollen alle Bäume des Waldes jauchzen
vor dem Angesichte des Herrn, wenn er kommt, die Erde zu richten!
34 Danket dem Herrn; denn er ist freundlich,
denn seine Gnade währet ewiglich!
35 Und sprechet: Hilf uns, o Gott unsres Heils,
und sammle uns und errette uns von den Heiden,
daß wir deinem heiligen Namen danken
und deines Lobes uns rühmen!
36 Gelobt sei der Herr, der Gott Israels jeder,
von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit!
Und alles Volk sagte: Amen! Und: Lob sei dem Herrn!
37 Also ließ er Asaph und seine Brüder daselbst vor der Lade des Bundes des Herrn, um allezeit vor der Lade zu dienen, Tag für Tag; 38 und Obed-Edom und seine achtundsechzig Brüder, Obed-Edom, den Sohn Jedutuns, und Chosa, als Torhüter;
39 aber den Priester Zadok und seine Brüder, die Priester, ließ er vor der Wohnung des Herrn auf der Höhe zu Gibeon, 40 damit sie dem Herrn täglich Brandopfer darbrächten auf dem Brandopferaltar, morgens und abends, und zwar nach allem, was geschrieben steht im Gesetz des Herrn, was er Israel geboten hat; 41 und mit ihnen Heman und Jedutun und die übrigen Auserlesenen, welche mit Namen bezeichnet wurden, dem Herrn zu danken, daß seine Güte ewig währt. 42 Und mit ihnen [, mit] Heman und Jedutun, Trompeten und Zimbeln für die, welche laut spielten, und Instrumente für die Lieder Gottes; aber die Söhne Jedutuns waren für das Tor [bestimmt].
43 Da ging alles Volk hin, ein in sein Haus; und auch David wandte sich, sein Haus zu segnen.

16 So they brought the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it: and they offered burnt sacrifices and peace offerings before God.
2 And when David had made an end of offering the burnt offerings and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord.
3 And he dealt to every one of Israel, both man and woman, to every one a loaf of bread, and a good piece of flesh, and a flagon of wine.
4 And he appointed certain of the Levites to minister before the ark of the Lord, and to record, and to thank and praise the Lord God of Israel:
5 Asaph the chief, and next to him Zechariah, Jeiel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Mattithiah, and Eliab, and Benaiah, and Obededom: and Jeiel with psalteries and with harps; but Asaph made a sound with cymbals;
6 Benaiah also and Jahaziel the priests with trumpets continually before the ark of the covenant of God.
7 Then on that day David delivered first this psalm to thank the Lord into the hand of Asaph and his brethren.
8 Give thanks unto the Lord, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people.
9 Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him, talk ye of all his wondrous works.
10 Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord.
11 Seek the Lord and his strength, seek his face continually.
12 Remember his marvellous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;
13 O ye seed of Israel his servant, ye children of Jacob, his chosen ones.
14 He is the Lord our God; his judgments are in all the earth.
15 Be ye mindful always of his covenant; the word which he commanded to a thousand generations;
16 Even of the covenant which he made with Abraham, and of his oath unto Isaac;
17 And hath confirmed the same to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant,
18 Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance;
19 When ye were but few, even a few, and strangers in it.
20 And when they went from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to another people;
21 He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes,
22 Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.
23 Sing unto the Lord, all the earth; shew forth from day to day his salvation.
24 Declare his glory among the heathen; his marvellous works among all nations.
25 For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods.
26 For all the gods of the people are idols: but the Lord made the heavens.
27 Glory and honour are in his presence; strength and gladness are in his place.
28 Give unto the Lord, ye kindreds of the people, give unto the Lord glory and strength.
29 Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.
30 Fear before him, all the earth: the world also shall be stable, that it be not moved.
31 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice: and let men say among the nations, The Lord reigneth.
32 Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof: let the fields rejoice, and all that is therein.
33 Then shall the trees of the wood sing out at the presence of the Lord, because he cometh to judge the earth.
34 O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.
35 And say ye, Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the heathen, that we may give thanks to thy holy name, and glory in thy praise.
36 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel for ever and ever. And all the people said, Amen, and praised the Lord.
37 So he left there before the ark of the covenant of the Lord Asaph and his brethren, to minister before the ark continually, as every day's work required:
38 And Obededom with their brethren, threescore and eight; Obededom also the son of Jeduthun and Hosah to be porters:
39 And Zadok the priest, and his brethren the priests, before the tabernacle of the Lord in the high place that was at Gibeon,
40 To offer burnt offerings unto the Lord upon the altar of the burnt offering continually morning and evening, and to do according to all that is written in the law of the Lord, which he commanded Israel;
41 And with them Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest that were chosen, who were expressed by name, to give thanks to the Lord, because his mercy endureth for ever;
42 And with them Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals for those that should make a sound, and with musical instruments of God. And the sons of Jeduthun were porters.
43 And all the people departed every man to his house: and David returned to bless his house.
