Und mit ihnen unter ihrem Geschlecht nach ihren Vaterhäusern waren gerüstetes Heervolk zum Streit sechsunddreißigtausend; denn sie hatten viel Weiber und Kinder.

Und ihre Brüder in allen Geschlechtern Isaschars waren gewaltige Männer und wurden alle aufgezeichnet, siebenundachtzigtausend.

Die Kinder Benjamins waren Bela, Becher und Jediael, die drei.

Aber die Kinder Belas waren: Ezbon, Usi, Usiel, Jerimoth und Iri, die fünf, Häupter in ihren Vaterhäusern, gewaltige Männer. Und wurden aufgezeichnet zweiundzwanzigtausend und vierunddreißig.

Die Kinder Bechers waren: Semira, Joas, Elieser, Eljoenai, Omri, Jerimoth, Abia, Anathoth und Alemeth; die waren alle Kinder des Becher.

Und wurden aufgezeichnet in ihren Geschlechtern nach den Häuptern ihrer Vaterhäuser, gewaltige Männer, zwanzigtausend und zweihundert.

10 Die Kinder aber Jediaels waren: Bilhan. Bilhans Kinder aber waren: Jeus, Benjamin, Ehud, Knaena, Sethan, Tharsis und Ahisahar.

11 Die waren alle Kinder Jediaels, Häupter ihrer Vaterhäuser, gewaltige Männer, siebzehntausend zweihundert, die ins Heer auszogen, zu streiten.

12 Und Suppim und Huppim waren Kinder der Irs; Husim aber waren Kinder Ahers.

13 Die Kinder Naphthalis waren: Jahziel, Guni, Jezer und Sallum, Kinder von Bilha.

14 Die Kinder Manasse sind diese: Asriel, welchen gebar sein syrisches Kebsweib; auch gebar sie Machir, den Vater Gileads.

15 Und Machir gab Huppim und Suppim Weiber; und seine Schwester hieß Maacha. Sein andrer Sohn hieß Zelophehad; und Zelophehad hatte Töchter.

16 Und Maacha, das Weib Machirs, gebar einen Sohn, den hieß sie Peres; und sein Bruder hieß Seres, und desselben Söhne waren Ulam und Rekem.

17 Ulams Sohn aber war Bedan. Das sind die Kinder Gileads, des Sohnes Machirs, des Sohnes Manasses.

18 Und seine Schwester Molecheth gebar Ishod, Abieser und Mahela.

19 Und Semida hatte diese Kinder: Ahjan, Sichem, Likhi und Aniam.

20 Die Kinder Ephraims waren diese: Suthela (des Sohn war Bered; des Sohn war Thahath; des Sohn war Eleada; des Sohn war Thahath;

21 des Sohn war Sebad; des Sohn war Suthela) und Eser und Elead. Und die Männer zu Gath, die Einheimischen im Lande, erwürgten sie, darum daß sie hinabgezogen waren ihr Vieh zu nehmen.

22 Und ihr Vater Ephraim trug lange Zeit Leid, und seine Brüder kamen, ihn zu trösten.

23 Und er ging ein zu seinem Weibe; die ward schwanger und gebar einen Sohn, den hieß er Beria, darum daß es in seinem Hause übel zuging.

24 Seine Tochter aber war Seera; die baute das niedere und obere Beth-Horon und Usen-Seera.

25 Des Sohn war Repha und Reseph; des Sohn war Thelah; des Sohn war Thahan;

26 des Sohn war Laedan; des Sohn war Ammihud, des Sohn war Elisama

27 des Sohn war Nun; des Sohn war Josua.

28 Und ihre Habe und Wohnung war Beth-El und seine Ortschaften, und gegen Aufgang Naeran, und gegen Abend Geser und seine Ortschaften, Sichem und seine Ortschaften bis gen Ajia und seine Ortschaften,

29 und an der Seite der Kinder Manasse Beth-Sean und seine Ortschaften, Thaanach und seine Ortschaften, Megiddo und seine Ortschaften, Dor und seine Ortschaften. In diesen wohnten die Kinder Josephs, des Sohnes Israels.

30 Die Kinder Asser waren diese: Jimna, Jiswa, Jiswi, Beria und Serah, ihre Schwester.

31 Die Kinder Berias waren: Heber und Malchiel, das ist der Vater Birsawiths.

32 Heber aber zeugte Japhlet, Semer, Hotham und Sua, ihre Schwester.

33 Die Kinder Japhlets waren: Pasach, Bimehal und Aswath; das waren die Kinder Japhlets.

34 Die Kinder Semers waren: Ahi, Rohga, Jehubba und Aram.

35 Und die Kinder seines Bruders Helem waren: Zophah, Jimna, Seles und Amal.

36 Die Kinder Zophas waren: Suah, Harnepher, Sual, Beri, Jimra,

37 Bezer, Hod, Samma, Silsa, Jethran und Beera.

38 Die Kinder Jethers waren: Jephunne, Phispa und Ara.

39 Die Kinder Ullas waren: Arah, Hanniel und Rizja.

40 Diese waren alle Kinder Assers, Häupter ihrer Vaterhäuser, auserlesene, gewaltige Männer und Häupter über Fürsten. Und wurden aufgezeichnet ins Heer zum Streit an ihrer Zahl sechsundzwanzigtausend Mann.

The Family of Issachar(A)

The sons of Issachar were (B)Tola, [a]Puah, [b]Jashub, and Shimron—four in all. The sons of Tola were Uzzi, Rephaiah, Jeriel, Jahmai, Jibsam, and Shemuel, heads of their father’s house. The sons of Tola were mighty men of valor in their generations; (C)their number in the days of David was twenty-two thousand six hundred. The son of Uzzi was Izrahiah, and the sons of Izrahiah were Michael, Obadiah, Joel, and Ishiah. All five of them were chief men. And with them, by their generations, according to their fathers’ houses, were thirty-six thousand troops ready for war; for they had many wives and sons.

Now their brethren among all the families of Issachar were mighty men of valor, listed by their genealogies, eighty-seven thousand in all.

The Family of Benjamin(D)

The sons of (E)Benjamin were Bela, Becher, and Jediael—three in all. The sons of Bela were Ezbon, Uzzi, Uzziel, Jerimoth, and Iri—five in all. They were heads of their fathers’ houses, and they were listed by their genealogies, twenty-two thousand and thirty-four mighty men of valor.

The sons of Becher were Zemirah, Joash, Eliezer, Elioenai, Omri, Jerimoth, Abijah, Anathoth, and Alemeth. All these are the sons of Becher. And they were recorded by genealogy according to their generations, heads of their fathers’ houses, twenty thousand two hundred mighty men of valor. 10 The son of Jediael was Bilhan, and the sons of Bilhan were Jeush, Benjamin, Ehud, Chenaanah, Zethan, Tharshish, and Ahishahar.

11 All these sons of Jediael were heads of their fathers’ houses; there were seventeen thousand two hundred mighty men of valor fit to go out for war and battle. 12 [c]Shuppim and [d]Huppim were the sons of [e]Ir, and Hushim was the son of [f]Aher.

The Family of Naphtali(F)

13 The (G)sons of Naphtali were [g]Jahziel, Guni, Jezer, and [h]Shallum, the sons of Bilhah.

The Family of Manasseh (West)

14 The (H)descendants of Manasseh: his Syrian concubine bore him (I)Machir the father of Gilead, the father of Asriel. 15 Machir took as his wife the sister of [i]Huppim and [j]Shuppim, whose name was Maachah. The name of Gilead’s [k]grandson was (J)Zelophehad, but Zelophehad begot only daughters. 16 (Maachah the wife of Machir bore a son, and she called his name Peresh. The name of his brother was Sheresh, and his sons were Ulam and Rakem. 17 The son of Ulam was (K)Bedan.) These were the descendants of Gilead the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh.

18 His sister Hammoleketh bore Ishhod, [l]Abiezer, and Mahlah.

19 And the sons of Shemida were Ahian, Shechem, Likhi, and Aniam.

The Family of Ephraim

20 (L)The sons of Ephraim were Shuthelah, Bered his son, Tahath his son, Eladah his son, Tahath his son, 21 Zabad his son, Shuthelah his son, and Ezer and Elead. The men of Gath who were born in that land killed them because they came down to take away their cattle. 22 Then Ephraim their father mourned many days, and his brethren came to comfort him.

23 And when he went in to his wife, she conceived and bore a son; and he called his name [m]Beriah, because tragedy had come upon his house. 24 Now his daughter was Sheerah, who built Lower and Upper (M)Beth Horon and Uzzen Sheerah; 25 and Rephah was his son, as well as Resheph, and Telah his son, Tahan his son, 26 Laadan his son, Ammihud his son, (N)Elishama his son, 27 [n]Nun his son, and (O)Joshua his son.

28 Now their (P)possessions and dwelling places were Bethel and its towns: to the east [o]Naaran, to the west Gezer and its towns, and Shechem and its towns, as far as [p]Ayyah and its towns; 29 and by the borders of the children of (Q)Manasseh were Beth Shean and its towns, Taanach and its towns, (R)Megiddo and its towns, Dor and its towns. In these dwelt the children of Joseph, the son of Israel.

The Family of Asher(S)

30 (T)The sons of Asher were Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi, Beriah, and their sister Serah. 31 The sons of Beriah were Heber and Malchiel, who was the father of [q]Birzaith. 32 And Heber begot Japhlet, [r]Shomer, [s]Hotham, and their sister Shua. 33 The sons of Japhlet were Pasach, Bimhal, and Ashvath. These were the children of Japhlet. 34 The sons of (U)Shemer were Ahi, Rohgah, Jehubbah, and Aram. 35 And the sons of his brother Helem were Zophah, Imna, Shelesh, and Amal. 36 The sons of Zophah were Suah, Harnepher, Shual, Beri, Imrah, 37 Bezer, Hod, Shamma, Shilshah, [t]Jithran, and Beera. 38 The sons of Jether were Jephunneh, Pispah, and Ara. 39 The sons of Ulla were Arah, Haniel, and Rizia.

40 All these were the children of Asher, heads of their fathers’ houses, choice men, mighty men of valor, chief leaders. And they were recorded by genealogies among the army fit for battle; their number was twenty-six thousand.

Issachar

The sons of Issachar:(A)

Tola, Puah,(B) Jashub and Shimron—four in all.

The sons of Tola:

Uzzi, Rephaiah, Jeriel, Jahmai, Ibsam and Samuel—heads of their families. During the reign of David, the descendants of Tola listed as fighting men in their genealogy numbered 22,600.

The son of Uzzi:

Izrahiah.

The sons of Izrahiah:

Michael, Obadiah, Joel and Ishiah. All five of them were chiefs. According to their family genealogy, they had 36,000 men ready for battle, for they had many wives and children.

The relatives who were fighting men belonging to all the clans of Issachar, as listed in their genealogy, were 87,000 in all.

Benjamin

Three sons of Benjamin:(C)

Bela, Beker and Jediael.

The sons of Bela:

Ezbon, Uzzi, Uzziel, Jerimoth and Iri, heads of families—five in all. Their genealogical record listed 22,034 fighting men.

The sons of Beker:

Zemirah, Joash, Eliezer, Elioenai, Omri, Jeremoth, Abijah, Anathoth and Alemeth. All these were the sons of Beker. Their genealogical record listed the heads of families and 20,200 fighting men.

10 The son of Jediael:

Bilhan.

The sons of Bilhan:

Jeush, Benjamin, Ehud, Kenaanah, Zethan, Tarshish and Ahishahar. 11 All these sons of Jediael were heads of families. There were 17,200 fighting men ready to go out to war.

12 The Shuppites and Huppites were the descendants of Ir, and the Hushites[a] the descendants of Aher.

Naphtali

13 The sons of Naphtali:(D)

Jahziel, Guni, Jezer and Shillem[b]—the descendants of Bilhah.

Manasseh

14 The descendants of Manasseh:(E)

Asriel was his descendant through his Aramean concubine. She gave birth to Makir the father of Gilead.(F) 15 Makir took a wife from among the Huppites and Shuppites. His sister’s name was Maakah.

Another descendant was named Zelophehad,(G) who had only daughters.

16 Makir’s wife Maakah gave birth to a son and named him Peresh. His brother was named Sheresh, and his sons were Ulam and Rakem.

17 The son of Ulam:

Bedan.

These were the sons of Gilead(H) son of Makir, the son of Manasseh. 18 His sister Hammoleketh gave birth to Ishhod, Abiezer(I) and Mahlah.

19 The sons of Shemida(J) were:

Ahian, Shechem, Likhi and Aniam.

Ephraim

20 The descendants of Ephraim:(K)

Shuthelah, Bered his son,

Tahath his son, Eleadah his son,

Tahath his son, 21 Zabad his son

and Shuthelah his son.

Ezer and Elead were killed by the native-born men of Gath, when they went down to seize their livestock. 22 Their father Ephraim mourned for them many days, and his relatives came to comfort him. 23 Then he made love to his wife again, and she became pregnant and gave birth to a son. He named him Beriah,[c] because there had been misfortune in his family. 24 His daughter was Sheerah, who built Lower and Upper Beth Horon(L) as well as Uzzen Sheerah.

25 Rephah was his son, Resheph his son,[d]

Telah his son, Tahan his son,

26 Ladan his son, Ammihud his son,

Elishama his son, 27 Nun his son

and Joshua his son.

28 Their lands and settlements included Bethel and its surrounding villages, Naaran to the east, Gezer(M) and its villages to the west, and Shechem and its villages all the way to Ayyah and its villages. 29 Along the borders of Manasseh were Beth Shan,(N) Taanach, Megiddo and Dor,(O) together with their villages. The descendants of Joseph son of Israel lived in these towns.

Asher

30 The sons of Asher:(P)

Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi and Beriah. Their sister was Serah.

31 The sons of Beriah:

Heber and Malkiel, who was the father of Birzaith.

32 Heber was the father of Japhlet, Shomer and Hotham and of their sister Shua.

33 The sons of Japhlet:

Pasak, Bimhal and Ashvath.

These were Japhlet’s sons.

34 The sons of Shomer:

Ahi, Rohgah,[e] Hubbah and Aram.

35 The sons of his brother Helem:

Zophah, Imna, Shelesh and Amal.

36 The sons of Zophah:

Suah, Harnepher, Shual, Beri, Imrah, 37 Bezer, Hod, Shamma, Shilshah, Ithran[f] and Beera.

38 The sons of Jether:

40 All these were descendants of Asher—heads of families, choice men, brave warriors and outstanding leaders. The number of men ready for battle, as listed in their genealogy, was 26,000.
