Israels Söhne hießen Ruben, Simeon, Levi, Juda, Issachar, Sebulon, Dan, Josef, Benjamin, Naftali, Gad und Asser.

Die Nachkommen von Juda

Juda war mit einer Kanaaniterin, einer Tochter von Schua, verheiratet. Sie hatten drei Söhne: Er, Onan und Schela. Er, der Älteste, tat, was dem Herrn missfiel, darum ließ Gott ihn früh sterben. Juda hatte noch zwei Söhne mit seiner Schwiegertochter Tamar. Sie hießen Perez und Serach. Insgesamt hatte Juda also fünf Söhne.

Die Söhne von Perez hießen Hezron und Hamul.

Serach hatte fünf Söhne: Simri, Etan, Heman, Kalkol und Darda. Karmi, ein Enkel von Serach, hatte einen Sohn namens Achar[a]. Achar brachte Unheil über Israel, weil er etwas von der Beute an sich nahm, die Gott geweiht war. Etans Sohn hieß Asarja.

Hezrons Söhne waren Jerachmeel, Ram und Kaleb.

Die Nachkommen von Ram

10 Ram war der Vater von Amminadab, und dessen Sohn hieß Nachschon. Nachschon war das Oberhaupt des Stammes Juda. 11 Sein Sohn hieß Salmon und dessen Sohn Boas; 12 Boas’ Sohn war Obed, und Obeds Sohn hieß Isai. 13 Isais ältester Sohn hieß Eliab, der zweite Abinadab, der dritte Schamma, 14 der vierte Netanel, der fünfte Raddai, 15 der sechste Ozem und der siebte David. 16 Außerdem hatte Isai zwei Töchter: Zeruja und Abigal. Zeruja hatte drei Söhne: Abischai, Joab und Asaël. 17 Abigals Sohn hieß Amasa. Sein Vater war ein Ismaeliter mit Namen Jeter.

Die Nachkommen von Kaleb

18 Kaleb, der Sohn von Hezron, und seine Frau Asuba hatten eine Tochter namens Jeriot.[b] Ihre Söhne hießen Jescher, Schobab und Ardon. 19 Nach Asubas Tod heiratete Kaleb Efrata. Sie hatten einen Sohn namens Hur. 20 Hurs Sohn hieß Uri und dessen Sohn Bezalel.

21 Mit 60 Jahren heiratete Kalebs Vater Hezron noch einmal. Seine Frau war eine Tochter von Machir, dem Vater von Gilead. Hezron und seine Frau bekamen einen Sohn mit Namen Segub. 22-23 Segubs Sohn hieß Jaïr. Er besaß in der Gegend von Gilead dreiundzwanzig Dörfer, die »Dörfer Jaïrs« genannt wurden. Doch die Geschuriter und die Syrer eroberten sie, ebenso die Stadt Kenat und die umliegenden Orte. Insgesamt nahmen sie bei diesem Feldzug sechzig Städte ein. Alle ihre Einwohner waren Nachkommen von Machir, dem Vater von Gilead. 24 Als Hezron gestorben war, dessen Frau Abija hieß, kam Kaleb zu Efrata und zeugte mit ihr einen Sohn:[c] Er hieß Aschhur und gründete später die Stadt Tekoa[d].

Die Nachkommen von Jerachmeel

25 Dies sind die Nachkommen von Jerachmeel, Hezrons ältestem Sohn: Der erste Sohn hieß Ram, dann folgten Buna, Oren, Ozem und Ahija. 26 Jerachmeels zweite Frau hieß Atara. Sie war die Mutter von Onam.

27 Die Söhne von Ram, Jerachmeels ältestem Sohn, hießen Maaz, Jamin und Eker. 28 Onams Söhne waren Schammai und Jada. Schammais Söhne hießen Nadab und Abischur. 29 Abischur und seine Frau Abihajil hatten zwei Söhne: Achban und Molid. 30 Nadabs Söhne hießen Seled und Appajim. Seled starb ohne Kinder; 31 Appajim hatte einen Sohn namens Jischi. Jischi war der Vater von Scheschan, und dessen Sohn hieß Achlai. 32 Die Söhne von Jada, Schammais Bruder, waren Jeter und Jonatan. Jeter hatte keine Kinder. 33 Jonatans Söhne hießen Pelet und Sasa. Das waren die Nachkommen von Jerachmeel. 34-35 Scheschan hatte keine Söhne, sondern nur Töchter. Eine dieser Töchter verheiratete er mit seinem ägyptischen Sklaven Jarha. Ihr gemeinsamer Sohn hieß Attai. 36 Von ihm stammten in direkter Linie ab: Nathan, Sabad, 37 Eflal, Obed, 38 Jehu, Asarja, 39 Helez, Elasa, 40 Sismai, Schallum, 41 Jekamja und Elischama.

Ein weiteres Verzeichnis der Nachkommen von Kaleb

42 Dies sind die Nachkommen von Kaleb, dem Bruder von Jerachmeel: Mescha, sein erster Sohn, gründete die Stadt Sif. Sein zweiter Sohn Marescha war der Vater von Hebron und Gründer der gleichnamigen Stadt. 43 Hebrons Söhne hießen Korach, Tappuach, Rekem und Schema. 44 Schemas Sohn Raham war der Vater von Jorkoam und gründete eine Stadt mit diesem Namen. Rekems Sohn hieß Schammai. 45 Schammais Sohn Maon war der Gründer von Bet-Zur.

46 Kaleb und seine Nebenfrau Efa hatten drei Söhne: Haran, Moza und Gases. Harans Sohn hieß ebenfalls Gases. 47 Jahdais Söhne waren Regem, Jotam, Geschan, Pelet, Efa und Schaaf.

48 Kaleb und seine zweite Nebenfrau Maacha hatten folgende Söhne: Scheber und Tirhana, 49 Schaaf, den Vater von Madmanna, sowie Schewa, den Vater von Machbena und Gibea. Schaaf und Schewa gründeten auch Städte und benannten sie nach ihren Söhnen. Kalebs Tochter hieß Achsa.

50 Es folgt ein Verzeichnis der Nachkommen von Hur, Efratas ältestem Sohn: Schobal, der die Stadt Kirjat-Jearim gründete, 51 Salmon, der Gründer von Bethlehem, und Haref, der Gründer von Bet-Gader.

52 Von Schobal, dem Gründer von Kirjat-Jearim, stammten Reaja und die Hälfte der Manahatiter ab. 53 In Kirjat-Jearim wohnten die Sippen der Jeteriter, Putiter, Schumatiter und Mischraiter. Von den Mischraitern stammten die Zoratiter und die Eschtaoliter ab.

54 Von Salmon stammten ab: die Einwohner von Bethlehem, die Sippe der Netofatiter, die Einwohner von Atrot-Bet-Joab, die andere Hälfte der Manahatiter, die Sippe der Zoriter, 55 außerdem die Sippen, aus denen die Schreiber stammten; sie wohnten in Jabez: die Tiratiter, die Schimatiter und die Suchatiter. Sie alle gehörten zu den Kinitern und stammten von Hammat ab, dem Stammvater der Rechabiter.

From Judah to David(D)

The sons of (E)Judah were Er, Onan, and Shelah. These three were born to him by the daughter of (F)Shua, the Canaanitess. (G)Er, the firstborn of Judah, was wicked in the sight of the Lord; so He killed him. And (H)Tamar, his daughter-in-law, (I)bore him Perez and Zerah. All the sons of Judah were five.

The sons of (J)Perez were Hezron and Hamul. The sons of Zerah were [b]Zimri, (K)Ethan, Heman, Calcol, and [c]Dara—five of them in all.

The son of (L)Carmi was [d]Achar, the troubler of Israel, who transgressed in the (M)accursed[e] thing.

The son of Ethan was Azariah.

Also the sons of Hezron who were born to him were Jerahmeel, [f]Ram, and [g]Chelubai. 10 Ram (N)begot Amminadab, and Amminadab begot Nahshon, (O)leader of the children of Judah; 11 Nahshon begot [h]Salma, and Salma begot Boaz; 12 Boaz begot Obed, and Obed begot Jesse; 13 (P)Jesse begot Eliab his firstborn, Abinadab the second, [i]Shimea the third, 14 Nethanel the fourth, Raddai the fifth, 15 Ozem the sixth, and David the (Q)seventh.

16 Now their sisters were Zeruiah and Abigail. (R)And the sons of Zeruiah were Abishai, Joab, and Asahel—three. 17 Abigail bore Amasa; and the father of Amasa was [j]Jether the Ishmaelite.

The Family of Hezron

18 Caleb the son of Hezron had children by Azubah, his wife, and by Jerioth. Now these were her sons: Jesher, Shobab, and Ardon. 19 When Azubah died, Caleb [k]took (S)Ephrath[l] as his wife, who bore him Hur. 20 And Hur begot Uri, and Uri begot (T)Bezalel.

21 Now afterward Hezron went in to the daughter of (U)Machir the father of Gilead, whom he married when he was sixty years old; and she bore him Segub. 22 Segub begot (V)Jair,[m] who had twenty-three cities in the land of Gilead. 23 (W)(Geshur and Syria took from them the towns of Jair, with Kenath and its towns—sixty towns.) All these belonged to the sons of Machir the father of Gilead. 24 After Hezron died in Caleb Ephrathah, Hezron’s wife Abijah bore him (X)Ashhur the father of Tekoa.

The Family of Jerahmeel

25 The sons of Jerahmeel, the firstborn of Hezron, were Ram, the firstborn, and Bunah, Oren, Ozem, and Ahijah. 26 Jerahmeel had another wife, whose name was Atarah; she was the mother of Onam. 27 The sons of Ram, the firstborn of Jerahmeel, were Maaz, Jamin, and Eker. 28 The sons of Onam were Shammai and Jada. The sons of Shammai were Nadab and Abishur.

29 And the name of the wife of Abishur was Abihail, and she bore him Ahban and Molid. 30 The sons of Nadab were Seled and Appaim; Seled died without children. 31 The son of Appaim was Ishi, the son of Ishi was Sheshan, and (Y)Sheshan’s son was Ahlai. 32 The sons of Jada, the brother of Shammai, were Jether and Jonathan; Jether died without children. 33 The sons of Jonathan were Peleth and Zaza. These were the sons of Jerahmeel.

34 Now Sheshan had no sons, only daughters. And Sheshan had an Egyptian servant whose name was Jarha. 35 Sheshan gave his daughter to Jarha his servant as wife, and she bore him Attai. 36 Attai begot Nathan, and Nathan begot (Z)Zabad; 37 Zabad begot Ephlal, and Ephlal begot (AA)Obed; 38 Obed begot Jehu, and Jehu begot Azariah; 39 Azariah begot Helez, and Helez begot Eleasah; 40 Eleasah begot Sismai, and Sismai begot Shallum; 41 Shallum begot Jekamiah, and Jekamiah begot Elishama.

The Family of Caleb

42 The descendants of Caleb the brother of Jerahmeel were Mesha, his firstborn, who was the father of Ziph, and the sons of Mareshah the father of Hebron. 43 The sons of Hebron were Korah, Tappuah, Rekem, and Shema. 44 Shema begot Raham the father of Jorkoam, and Rekem begot Shammai. 45 And the son of Shammai was Maon, and Maon was the father of Beth Zur.

46 Ephah, Caleb’s concubine, bore Haran, Moza, and Gazez; and Haran begot Gazez. 47 And the sons of Jahdai were Regem, Jotham, Geshan, Pelet, Ephah, and Shaaph.

48 Maachah, Caleb’s concubine, bore Sheber and Tirhanah. 49 She also bore Shaaph the father of Madmannah, Sheva the father of Machbenah and the father of Gibea. And the daughter of Caleb was (AB)Achsah.[n]

50 These were the descendants of Caleb: The sons of (AC)Hur, the firstborn of [o]Ephrathah, were Shobal the father of (AD)Kirjath Jearim, 51 Salma the father of Bethlehem, and Hareph the father of Beth Gader.

52 And Shobal the father of Kirjath Jearim had descendants: [p]Haroeh, and half of the [q]families of Manuhoth. 53 The families of Kirjath Jearim were the Ithrites, the Puthites, the Shumathites, and the Mishraites. From these came the Zorathites and the Eshtaolites.

54 The sons of Salma were Bethlehem, the Netophathites, [r]Atroth Beth Joab, half of the Manahethites, and the Zorites.

55 And the families of the scribes who dwelt at Jabez were the Tirathites, the Shimeathites, and the Suchathites. These were the (AE)Kenites who came from Hammath, the father of the house of (AF)Rechab.

The sons[h] of Hur the firstborn of (AT)Ephrathah: Shobal the father of Kiriath-jearim, 51 (AU)Salma, the father of Bethlehem, and Hareph the father of Beth-gader. 52 Shobal the father of Kiriath-jearim had other sons: (AV)Haroeh, half of the Menuhoth. 53 And the clans of Kiriath-jearim: the Ithrites, the Puthites, the Shumathites, and the Mishraites; from these came the (AW)Zorathites and the Eshtaolites. 54 The sons of Salma: Bethlehem, the Netophathites, Atroth-beth-joab and half of the Manahathites, the Zorites. 55 The clans also of the scribes who lived at Jabez: the Tirathites, the Shimeathites and the Sucathites. These are the (AX)Kenites who came from Hammath, the father of (AY)the house of Rechab.
