20 (A)And Phinehas the son of Eleazar was ruler over them previously, and Yahweh was with him. 21 (B)Zechariah the son of Meshelemiah was gatekeeper of the entrance of the tent of meeting. 22 All these who were chosen to be gatekeepers at the thresholds were 212. These were recorded by genealogy in their villages, (C)whom David and Samuel the seer established (D)in their office of trust.

20 In earlier times Phinehas(A) son of Eleazar was the official in charge of the gatekeepers, and the Lord was with him. 21 Zechariah(B) son of Meshelemiah was the gatekeeper at the entrance to the tent of meeting.
22 Altogether, those chosen to be gatekeepers(C) at the thresholds numbered 212. They were registered by genealogy in their villages. The gatekeepers had been assigned to their positions of trust by David and Samuel the seer.(D)
