Chapter 8
Benjamin. 1 [a]Benjamin became the father of Bela, his firstborn, Ashbel, the second son, Aharah, the third,(A) 2 Nohah, the fourth, and Rapha, the fifth. 3 The sons of Bela were Addar and Gera, the father of Ehud. 4 The sons of Ehud were Abishua, Naaman, Ahoah,(B) 5 Gera, Shephuphan, and Huram. 6 These were the sons of Ehud, family heads over those who dwelt in Geba and were deported to Manahath. 7 Also Naaman, Ahijah, and Gera. The last, who led them into exile, became the father of Uzza and Ahihud. 8 Shaharaim became a father on the Moabite plateau after he had put away his wives Hushim and Baara. 9 By his wife Hodesh he begot Jobab, Zibia, Mesha, Malcam, 10 Jeuz, Sachia, and Mirmah. These were his sons, family heads. 11 By Hushim he begot Abitub and Elpaal. 12 The sons of Elpaal were Eber, Misham, Shemed (who built Ono and Lod with its nearby towns),(C) 13 and Beriah, and Shema. They were family heads of those who dwelt in Aijalon, and they put the inhabitants of Gath to flight. 14 Their relatives were Elpaal, Shashak, and Jeremoth. 15 Zebadiah, Arad, Eder, 16 Michael, Ishpah, and Joha were the sons of Beriah. 17 Zebadiah, Meshullam, Hizki, Heber, 18 Ishmerai, Izliah, and Jobab were the sons of Elpaal. 19 Jakim, Zichri, Zabdi, 20 Elienai, Zillethai, Eliel, 21 Adaiah, Beraiah, and Shimrath were the sons of Shimei. 22 Ishpan, Eber, Eliel, 23 Abdon, Zichri, Hanan, 24 Hananiah, Elam, Anthothijah, 25 Iphdeiah, and Penuel were the sons of Shashak. 26 Shamsherai, Shehariah, Athaliah, 27 Jaareshiah, Elijah, and Zichri were the sons of Jeroham. 28 These were family heads in their generations, chiefs who dwelt in Jerusalem.
29 (D)In Gibeon dwelt Jeiel, the founder of Gibeon, whose wife’s name was Maacah; 30 also his firstborn son, Abdon, and Zur, Kish, Baal, Ner, Nadab, 31 Gedor, Ahio, Zecher, and Mikloth. 32 Mikloth became the father of Shimeah. These, too, dwelt with their relatives in Jerusalem, opposite their fellow tribesmen. 33 (E)Ner became the father of Kish, and Kish became the father of Saul. Saul became the father of Jonathan, Malchishua, Abinadab, and Eshbaal.(F) 34 The son of Jonathan was Meribbaal, and Meribbaal became the father of Micah.(G) 35 The sons of Micah were Pithon, Melech, Tarea, and Ahaz. 36 Ahaz became the father of Jehoaddah, and Jehoaddah became the father of Alemeth, Azmaveth, and Zimri. Zimri became the father of Moza.(H) 37 Moza became the father of Binea, whose son was Raphah, whose son was Eleasah, whose son was Azel. 38 Azel had six sons, whose names were Azrikam, his firstborn, Ishmael, Sheariah, Azariah, Obadiah, and Hanan; all these were the sons of Azel.(I) 39 The sons of Eshek, his brother, were Ulam, his firstborn, Jeush, the second son, and Eliphelet, the third. 40 The sons of Ulam were warriors, skilled with the bow, and they had many sons and grandsons: one hundred and fifty. All these were the sons of Benjamin.

8 Benjamin engendra Béla, son premier-né, Aschbel le second, Achrach le troisième, 2 Nocha le quatrième, et Rapha le cinquième. 3 Les fils de Béla furent: Addar, Guéra, Abihud, 4 Abischua, Naaman, Achoach, 5 Guéra, Schephuphan et Huram.
6 Voici les fils d’Echud, qui étaient chefs de famille parmi les habitants de Guéba, et qui les transportèrent à Manachath: 7 Naaman, Achija et Guéra. Guéra, qui les transporta, engendra Uzza et Achichud.
8 Schacharaïm eut des enfants au pays de Moab, après qu’il eut renvoyé Huschim et Baara, ses femmes. 9 Il eut de Hodesch, sa femme: Jobab, Tsibja, Méscha, Malcam, 10 Jeuts, Schocja et Mirma. Ce sont là ses fils, chefs de famille. 11 Il eut de Huschim: Abithub et Elpaal. 12 Fils d’Elpaal: Eber, Mischeam, et Schémer, qui bâtit Ono, Lod et les villes de son ressort.
13 Beria et Schéma, qui étaient chefs de famille parmi les habitants d’Ajalon, mirent en fuite les habitants de Gath. 14 Achjo, Schaschak, Jerémoth, 15 Zebadja, Arad, Eder, 16 Micaël, Jischpha et Jocha étaient fils de Beria. 17 Zebadja, Meschullam, Hizki, Héber, 18 Jischmeraï, Jizlia et Jobab étaient fils d’Elpaal. 19 Jakim, Zicri, Zabdi, 20 Eliénaï, Tsilthaï, Eliel, 21 Adaja, Beraja et Schimrath étaient fils de Schimeï. 22 Jischpan, Eber, Eliel, 23 Abdon, Zicri, Hanan, 24 Hanania, Elam, Anthothija, 25 Jiphdeja et Penuel étaient fils de Schaschak. 26 Schamscheraï, Schecharia, Athalia, 27 Jaaréschia, Elija et Zicri étaient fils de Jerocham. 28 Ce sont là des chefs de famille, chefs selon leurs générations. Ils habitaient à Jérusalem.
29 Le père de Gabaon habitait à Gabaon, et le nom de sa femme était Maaca. 30 Abdon, son fils premier-né, puis Tsur, Kis, Baal, Nadab, 31 Guedor, Achjo, et Zéker. 32 Mikloth engendra Schimea. Ils habitaient aussi à Jérusalem près de leurs frères, avec leurs frères. 33 Ner engendra Kis; Kis engendra Saül; Saül engendra Jonathan, Malki-Schua, Abinadab et Eschbaal[a]. 34 Fils de Jonathan: Merib-Baal.[b] Merib-Baal engendra Michée. 35 Fils de Michée: Pithon, Mélec, Thaeréa et Achaz. 36 Achaz engendra Jehoadda; Jehoadda engendra Alémeth, Azmaveth et Zimri; Zimri engendra Motsa; 37 Motsa engendra Binea. Rapha, son fils; Eleasa, son fils; Atsel, son fils; 38 Atsel eut six fils, dont voici les noms: Azrikam, Bocru, Ismaël, Schearia, Abdias et Hanan. Tous ceux-là étaient fils d’Atsel. 39 Fils d’Eschek, son frère: Ulam, son premier-né, Jéusch le second, et Eliphéleth le troisième. 40 Les fils d’Ulam furent de vaillants hommes, tirant de l’arc; et ils eurent beaucoup de fils et de petits-fils, cent cinquante. Tous ceux-là sont des fils de Benjamin.
