6 Các con của Lê-vi là Ghẹt-sôm, Kê-hát, và Mê-ra-ri.

2 Các con của Kê-hát là Am-ram, Ít-ha, Hếp-rôn, và U-xi-ên.

3 Các con của Am-ram là A-rôn, Môi-se, và Mi-ri-am.

Các con của A-rôn là Na-đáp, A-bi-hu, Ê-lê-a-xa, và I-tha-ma. 4 Ê-lê-a-xa sinh Phi-nê-a. Phi-nê-a sinh A-bi-sua. 5 A-bi-sua sinh Búc-ki. Búc-ki sinh U-xi. 6 U-xi sinh Xê-ra-hi-a. Xê-ra-hi-a sinh Mê-ra-giốt. 7 Mê-ra-giốt sinh A-ma-ri-a. A-ma-ri-a sinh A-hi-túp. 8 A-hi-túp sinh Xa-đốc. Xa-đốc sinh A-hi-ma-a. 9 A-hi-ma-a sinh A-xa-ri-a. A-xa-ri-a sinh Giô-ha-nan. 10 Giô-ha-nan sinh A-xa-ri-a, người làm tư tế trong đền thờ do Sa-lô-môn xây ở Giê-ru-sa-lem. 11 A-xa-ri-a sinh A-ma-ri-a. A-ma-ri-a sinh A-hi-túp. 12 A-hi-túp sinh Xa-đốc. Xa-đốc sinh Sanh-lum. 13 Sanh-lum sinh Hinh-ki-a. Hinh-ki-a sinh A-xa-ri-a. 14 A-xa-ri-a sinh Sê-ra-gia. Sê-ra-gia sinh Giê-hô-xa-đát.

15 Giê-hô-xa-đát bị đem đi lưu đày khi Chúa dùng tay Nê-bu-cát-nê-xa phạt dân Giu-đa và dân Giê-ru-sa-lem phải đi lưu đày.

16 Các con của Lê-vi là Ghẹt-sôm, Kê-hát, và Mê-ra-ri.

17 Ðây là tên các con của Ghẹt-sôm: Líp-ni và Si-mê-i.

18 Các con của Kê-hát là Am-ram, Ít-ha, Hếp-rôn, và U-xi-ên.

19 Các con của Mê-ra-ri là Mác-li và Mu-si.

Ðây là các thị tộc của chi tộc Lê-vi liệt kê theo tổ tiên của họ:

20 Con của Ghẹt-sôm là Líp-ni; con của Líp-ni là Gia-hát; con của Gia-hát là Xim-ma; 21 con của Xim-ma là Giô-a; con của Giô-a là I-đô; con của I-đô là Xê-ra; con của Xê-ra là Giê-a-thê-rai.

25 Các con của Ên-ca-na là A-ma-sai và A-hi-mốt.

26 Về Ên-ca-na thì con cháu của Ên-ca-na là Xô-phai; con của Xô-phai là Na-hát; 27 con của Na-hát là Ê-li-áp; con của Ê-li-áp là Giê-rô-ham; con của Giê-rô-ham là Ên-ca-na.[a]

28 Các con của Sa-mu-ên là Giô-ên[b] con đầu lòng, A-bi-gia con thứ nhì.[c]

29 Con cháu của Mê-ra-ri là Ma-li; con của Ma-li là Líp-ni; con của Líp-ni là Si-mê-i; con của Si-mê-i là U-xa; 30 con của U-xa là Si-mê-a; con của Si-mê-a là Hắc-ghi-a; con của Hắc-ghi-a là A-sa-gia.

Những Người Ðặc Trách Thánh Nhạc Thời Ða-vít

31 Ðây là những người Ða-vít đã lập làm những người đặc trách việc ca hát thờ phượng trong nhà Chúa, sau khi Rương Giao Ước đã được rước vào an vị. 32 Họ phục vụ bằng sự ca ngợi trước Ðền Tạm, tức Lều Hội Kiến, cho đến khi Sa-lô-môn xây dựng một Ðền Thờ cho Chúa tại Giê-ru-sa-lem. Họ thi hành bổn phận của họ theo như quy luật đã định cho họ.

33 Ðây là những người đã phục vụ cùng với con cháu của họ:

Trong dòng dõi của Kê-hát có Hê-man làm ca đoàn trưởng, con của Giô-ên, con của Sa-mu-ên, 34 con của Ên-ca-na, con của Giê-rô-ham, con của Ê-li-ên, con của Tô-a, 35 con của Xu-phơ, con của Ên-ca-na, con của Ma-hát, con của A-ma-sai, 36 con của Ên-ca-na, con của Giô-ên, con của A-xa-ri-a, con của Xê-pha-ni-a, 37 con của Ta-hát, con của Át-si, con của A-bi-a-sáp, con của Cô-ra, 38 con của Ít-ha, con của Kê-hát, con của Lê-vi, con của I-sơ-ra-ên.

39 Em của ông là A-sáp, đứng bên phải ông. A-sáp là con của Bê-rê-ki-a, con của Si-mê-a, 40 con của Mi-chên, con của Ba-a-sê-gia, con của Manh-ki-gia, 41 con của Ết-ni, con của Xê-ra, con của A-đa-gia, 42 con của Ê-than, con của Xim-ma, con của Si-mê-i, 43 con của Gia-hát, con của Ghẹt-sôm, con của Lê-vi.

44 Ðứng bên trái của ông có những người trong dòng họ của ông, các con của Mê-ra-ri: Ê-than con của Ki-si, con của Áp-đi, con của Manh-lúc, 45 con của Ha-sa-bi-a, con của A-ma-xi-a, con của Hinh-ki-a, 46 con của Am-xi, con của Ba-ni, con của Sê-me, 47 con của Mác-li, con của Mu-si, con của Mê-ra-ri, con của Lê-vi.

50 Ðây là con cháu của A-rôn: con của A-rôn là Ê-lê-a-xa; con của Ê-lê-a-xa là Phi-nê-a; con của Phi-nê-a là A-bi-sua; 51 con của A-bi-sua là Búc-ki; con của Búc-ki là U-xi; con của U-xi là Xê-ra-hi-a; 52 con của Xê-ra-hi-a là Mê-ra-giốt; con của Mê-ra-giốt là A-ma-ri-a; con của A-ma-ri-a là A-hi-túp; 53 con của A-hi-túp là Xa-đốc; con của Xa-đốc là A-hi-ma-a.

54 Ðây là những vùng định cư và các lãnh thổ đã được bốc thăm để chia cho chi tộc Lê-vi:

Ðối với các con cháu của A-rôn, các gia tộc của dòng họ Kê-hát (vì thăm trúng vào dòng họ của họ trước) 55 được người ta ban cho họ Hếp-rôn trong xứ Giu-đa và những đồng cỏ chung quanh thành, 56 nhưng ruộng rẫy thuộc về thành và các làng trực thuộc thành đều được ban cho Ca-lép con của Giê-phu-nê.

57 Người ta ban cho các con cháu của A-rôn các thành: Hếp-rôn (thành ẩn náu), Líp-na và các đồng cỏ của nó, Giát-tia, Ếch-tê-mô-a và các đồng cỏ của nó, 58 Hi-lên và các đồng cỏ của nó, Ðê-bi và các đồng cỏ của nó, 59 A-san và các đồng cỏ của nó, và Bết Sê-mếch và các đồng cỏ của nó. 60 Trong lãnh thổ của chi tộc Bên-gia-min: Ghê-ba và các đồng cỏ của nó, A-lê-mết và các đồng cỏ của nó, và A-na-thốt và các đồng cỏ của nó.

Tổng số các thành được ban cho các gia tộc trong dòng họ của họ là mười ba thành.

61 Ðối với các con cháu còn lại của dòng họ Kê-hát, người ta bắt thăm chia cho họ các thành trong lãnh thổ của các chi tộc; trong phân nửa chi tộc của Ma-na-se, họ được chia cho mười thành.

63 Ðối với các con cháu của Mê-ra-ri theo từng thị tộc của họ, các chi tộc Ru-bên, Gát, và Xê-bu-lun đã bắt thăm chia cho họ mười hai thành.

64 Như thế dân I-sơ-ra-ên đã chia cho người Lê-vi các thành và các đồng cỏ. 65 Các chi tộc Giu-đa, Si-mê-ôn và Bên-gia-min cũng đã bắt thăm chia cho họ các thành được kể ở trên.

66 Một số thị tộc trong vòng con cháu của Kê-hát được ban cho các thành và đất đai trong lãnh thổ của chi tộc Ép-ra-im. 67 Họ được ban cho các thành ẩn náu: Si-chem và các đồng cỏ của nó trong vùng cao nguyên Ép-ra-im, Ghê-xe và các đồng cỏ của nó, 68 Giốc-mê-am và các đồng cỏ của nó, Bết Hô-rôn và các đồng cỏ của nó, 69 A-gia-lôn và các đồng cỏ của nó, Gát Rim-môn và các đồng cỏ của nó. 70 Trong lãnh thổ của phân nửa chi tộc Ma-na-se: A-ne và các đồng cỏ của nó, Bi-lê-am và các đồng cỏ của nó được ban cho những người còn lại trong con cháu của Kê-hát.

6 The sons of Levi were (B)Gershon,[a] Kohath, and Merari. 2 The sons of Kohath were Amram, (C)Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel. 3 The children of Amram were Aaron, Moses, and Miriam. And the sons of Aaron were (D)Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar. 4 Eleazar begot Phinehas, and Phinehas begot Abishua; 5 Abishua begot Bukki, and Bukki begot Uzzi; 6 Uzzi begot Zerahiah, and Zerahiah begot Meraioth; 7 Meraioth begot Amariah, and Amariah begot Ahitub; 8 (E)Ahitub begot (F)Zadok, and Zadok begot Ahimaaz; 9 Ahimaaz begot Azariah, and Azariah begot Johanan; 10 Johanan begot Azariah (it was he (G)who ministered as priest in the (H)temple[b] that Solomon built in Jerusalem); 11 (I)Azariah begot (J)Amariah, and Amariah begot Ahitub; 12 Ahitub begot Zadok, and Zadok begot [c]Shallum; 13 Shallum begot Hilkiah, and Hilkiah begot Azariah; 14 Azariah begot (K)Seraiah, and Seraiah begot Jehozadak. 15 Jehozadak went into captivity (L)when the Lord carried Judah and Jerusalem into captivity by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar.

Musicians in the House of the Lord

31 Now these are (Q)the men whom David appointed over the service of song in the house of the Lord, after the (R)ark came to rest. 32 They were ministering with music before the dwelling place of the tabernacle of meeting, until Solomon had built the house of the Lord in Jerusalem, and they served in their office according to their order.

33 And these are the ones who [n]ministered with their sons: Of the sons of the (S)Kohathites were Heman the singer, the son of Joel, the son of Samuel, 34 the son of Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of [o]Eliel, the son of [p]Toah, 35 the son of Zuph, the son of Elkanah, the son of Mahath, the son of Amasai, 36 the son of Elkanah, the son of Joel, the son of Azariah, the son of Zephaniah, 37 the son of Tahath, the son of Assir, the son of (T)Ebiasaph, the son of Korah, 38 the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, the son of Israel. 39 And his brother (U)Asaph, who stood at his right hand, was Asaph the son of Berachiah, the son of Shimea, 40 the son of Michael, the son of Baaseiah, the son of Malchijah, 41 the son of (V)Ethni, the son of Zerah, the son of Adaiah, 42 the son of Ethan, the son of Zimmah, the son of Shimei, 43 the son of Jahath, the son of Gershon, the son of Levi.

44 Their brethren, the sons of Merari, on the left hand, were [q]Ethan the son of [r]Kishi, the son of Abdi, the son of Malluch, 45 the son of Hashabiah, the son of Amaziah, the son of Hilkiah, 46 the son of Amzi, the son of Bani, the son of Shamer, 47 the son of Mahli, the son of Mushi, the son of Merari, the son of Levi.

48 And their brethren, the Levites, were appointed to every (W)kind of service of the tabernacle of the house of God.

The Family of Aaron

49 (X)But Aaron and his sons offered sacrifices (Y)on the altar of burnt offering and (Z)on the altar of incense, for all the work of the Most Holy Place, and to make atonement for Israel, according to all that Moses the servant of God had commanded. 50 Now these are the (AA)sons of Aaron: Eleazar his son, Phinehas his son, Abishua his son, 51 Bukki his son, Uzzi his son, Zerahiah his son, 52 Meraioth his son, Amariah his son, Ahitub his son, 53 Zadok his son, and Ahimaaz his son.

Dwelling Places of the Levites(AB)

54 (AC)Now these are their dwelling places throughout their settlements in their territory, for they were given by lot to the sons of Aaron, of the family of the Kohathites: 55 (AD)They gave them Hebron in the land of Judah, with its surrounding [s]common-lands. 56 (AE)But the fields of the city and its villages they gave to Caleb the son of Jephunneh. 57 And (AF)to the sons of Aaron they gave one of the cities of refuge, Hebron; also Libnah with its common-lands, Jattir, Eshtemoa with its common-lands, 58 [t]Hilen with its common-lands, Debir with its common-lands, 59 [u]Ashan with its common-lands, and Beth Shemesh with its common-lands. 60 And from the tribe of Benjamin: Geba with its common-lands, [v]Alemeth with its common-lands, and Anathoth with its common-lands. All their cities among their families were thirteen.

61 (AG)To the rest of the family of the tribe of the Kohathites they gave (AH)by lot ten cities from half the tribe of Manasseh. 62 And to the sons of Gershon, throughout their families, they gave thirteen cities from the tribe of Issachar, from the tribe of Asher, from the tribe of Naphtali, and from the tribe of Manasseh in Bashan. 63 To the sons of Merari, throughout their families, they gave (AI)twelve cities from the tribe of Reuben, from the tribe of Gad, and from the tribe of Zebulun. 64 So the children of Israel gave these cities with their [w]common-lands to the Levites. 65 And they gave by lot from the tribe of the children of Judah, from the tribe of the children of Simeon, and from the tribe of the children of Benjamin these cities which are called by their names.

66 Now (AJ)some of the families of the sons of Kohath were given cities as their territory from the tribe of Ephraim. 67 (AK)And they gave them one of the cities of refuge, Shechem with its common-lands, in the mountains of Ephraim, also Gezer with its common-lands, 68 (AL)Jokmeam with its common-lands, Beth Horon with its common-lands, 69 Aijalon with its common-lands, and Gath Rimmon with its common-lands. 70 And from the half-tribe of Manasseh: Aner with its common-lands and Bileam with its common-lands, for the rest of the family of the sons of Kohath.

71 From the family of the half-tribe of Manasseh the sons of Gershon were given Golan in Bashan with its common-lands and [x]Ashtaroth with its common-lands. 72 And from the tribe of Issachar: [y]Kedesh with its common-lands, Daberath with its common-lands, 73 Ramoth with its common-lands, and Anem with its common-lands. 74 And from the tribe of Asher: Mashal with its common-lands, Abdon with its common-lands, 75 Hukok with its common-lands, and Rehob with its common-lands. 76 And from the tribe of Naphtali: Kedesh in Galilee with its common-lands, Hammon with its common-lands, and Kirjathaim with its common-lands.

77 From the tribe of Zebulun the rest of the children of Merari were given [z]Rimmon with its common-lands and Tabor with its common-lands. 78 And on the other side of the Jordan, across from Jericho, on the east side of the Jordan, they were given from the tribe of Reuben: Bezer in the wilderness with its common-lands, Jahzah with its common-lands, 79 Kedemoth with its common-lands, and Mephaath with its common-lands. 80 And from the tribe of Gad: Ramoth in Gilead with its common-lands, Mahanaim with its common-lands, 81 Heshbon with its common-lands, and Jazer with its common-lands.

These are the clans of the Levites listed according to their fathers:

20 Of Gershon:

Libni his son, Jahath his son,

Zimmah his son, 21 Joah his son,

Iddo his son, Zerah his son

and Jeatherai his son.

22 The descendants of Kohath:

Amminadab his son, Korah(S) his son,

Assir his son, 23 Elkanah his son,

Ebiasaph his son, Assir his son,

24 Tahath his son, Uriel(T) his son,

Uzziah his son and Shaul his son.

25 The descendants of Elkanah:

Amasai, Ahimoth,

26 Elkanah his son,[d] Zophai his son,

Nahath his son, 27 Eliab his son,

Jeroham his son, Elkanah(U) his son

and Samuel(V) his son.[e]

28 The sons of Samuel:

Joel[f](W) the firstborn

and Abijah the second son.

29 The descendants of Merari:

Mahli, Libni his son,

Shimei his son, Uzzah his son,

30 Shimea his son, Haggiah his son

and Asaiah his son.

The Temple Musicians(X)

31 These are the men(Y) David put in charge of the music(Z) in the house of the Lord after the ark came to rest there. 32 They ministered with music before the tabernacle, the tent of meeting, until Solomon built the temple of the Lord in Jerusalem. They performed their duties according to the regulations laid down for them.

33 Here are the men who served, together with their sons:

From the Kohathites:

Heman,(AA) the musician,

the son of Joel,(AB) the son of Samuel,

34 the son of Elkanah,(AC) the son of Jeroham,

the son of Eliel, the son of Toah,

35 the son of Zuph, the son of Elkanah,

the son of Mahath, the son of Amasai,

36 the son of Elkanah, the son of Joel,

the son of Azariah, the son of Zephaniah,

37 the son of Tahath, the son of Assir,

the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah,(AD)

38 the son of Izhar,(AE) the son of Kohath,

the son of Levi, the son of Israel;

39 and Heman’s associate Asaph,(AF) who served at his right hand:

Asaph son of Berekiah, the son of Shimea,(AG)

40 the son of Michael, the son of Baaseiah,[g]

the son of Malkijah, 41 the son of Ethni,

the son of Zerah, the son of Adaiah,

42 the son of Ethan, the son of Zimmah,

the son of Shimei, 43 the son of Jahath,

the son of Gershon, the son of Levi;

44 and from their associates, the Merarites,(AH) at his left hand:

Ethan son of Kishi, the son of Abdi,

the son of Malluk, 45 the son of Hashabiah,

the son of Amaziah, the son of Hilkiah,

46 the son of Amzi, the son of Bani,

the son of Shemer, 47 the son of Mahli,

the son of Mushi, the son of Merari,

the son of Levi.

48 Their fellow Levites(AI) were assigned to all the other duties of the tabernacle, the house of God. 49 But Aaron and his descendants were the ones who presented offerings on the altar(AJ) of burnt offering and on the altar of incense(AK) in connection with all that was done in the Most Holy Place, making atonement for Israel, in accordance with all that Moses the servant of God had commanded.

50 These were the descendants of Aaron:

Eleazar his son, Phinehas his son,

Abishua his son, 51 Bukki his son,

Uzzi his son, Zerahiah his son,

52 Meraioth his son, Amariah his son,

Ahitub his son, 53 Zadok(AL) his son

and Ahimaaz his son.

54 These were the locations of their settlements(AM) allotted as their territory (they were assigned to the descendants of Aaron who were from the Kohathite clan, because the first lot was for them):

55 They were given Hebron in Judah with its surrounding pasturelands. 56 But the fields and villages around the city were given to Caleb son of Jephunneh.(AN)

57 So the descendants of Aaron were given Hebron (a city of refuge), and Libnah,[h](AO) Jattir,(AP) Eshtemoa, 58 Hilen, Debir,(AQ) 59 Ashan,(AR) Juttah[i] and Beth Shemesh, together with their pasturelands. 60 And from the tribe of Benjamin they were given Gibeon,[j] Geba, Alemeth and Anathoth,(AS) together with their pasturelands.

The total number of towns distributed among the Kohathite clans came to thirteen.

61 The rest of Kohath’s descendants were allotted ten towns from the clans of half the tribe of Manasseh.

62 The descendants of Gershon, clan by clan, were allotted thirteen towns from the tribes of Issachar, Asher and Naphtali, and from the part of the tribe of Manasseh that is in Bashan.

63 The descendants of Merari, clan by clan, were allotted twelve towns from the tribes of Reuben, Gad and Zebulun.

64 So the Israelites gave the Levites these towns(AT) and their pasturelands. 65 From the tribes of Judah, Simeon and Benjamin they allotted the previously named towns.

66 Some of the Kohathite clans were given as their territory towns from the tribe of Ephraim.

67 In the hill country of Ephraim they were given Shechem (a city of refuge), and Gezer,[k](AU) 68 Jokmeam,(AV) Beth Horon,(AW) 69 Aijalon(AX) and Gath Rimmon,(AY) together with their pasturelands.

70 And from half the tribe of Manasseh the Israelites gave Aner and Bileam, together with their pasturelands, to the rest of the Kohathite clans.

71 The Gershonites(AZ) received the following:

From the clan of the half-tribe of Manasseh

they received Golan in Bashan(BA) and also Ashtaroth, together with their pasturelands;

72 from the tribe of Issachar

they received Kedesh, Daberath,(BB) 73 Ramoth and Anem, together with their pasturelands;

74 from the tribe of Asher

they received Mashal, Abdon,(BC) 75 Hukok(BD) and Rehob,(BE) together with their pasturelands;

76 and from the tribe of Naphtali

they received Kedesh in Galilee, Hammon(BF) and Kiriathaim,(BG) together with their pasturelands.

77 The Merarites (the rest of the Levites) received the following:

From the tribe of Zebulun

they received Jokneam, Kartah,[l] Rimmono and Tabor, together with their pasturelands;

78 from the tribe of Reuben across the Jordan east of Jericho

they received Bezer(BH) in the wilderness, Jahzah, 79 Kedemoth(BI) and Mephaath, together with their pasturelands;

80 and from the tribe of Gad

they received Ramoth in Gilead,(BJ) Mahanaim,(BK) 81 Heshbon and Jazer,(BL) together with their pasturelands.(BM)
