The Descendants of Reuben
5 (A) Reuben was the oldest son of Jacob,[a] but he lost his rights as the first-born son[b] because he slept with one of his father's wives.[c] The honor of the first-born son was then given to Joseph, 2 (B) even though it was the Judah tribe that became the most powerful and produced a leader.
3 Reuben had four sons: Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.
4-6 (C) The descendants of Joel included Shemaiah, Gog, Shimei, Micah, Reaiah, Baal, and Beerah, a leader of the Reuben tribe. Later, King Tiglath Pileser of Assyria took Beerah away as prisoner.
7-8 The family records also include Jeiel, who was a clan leader, Zechariah, and Bela son of Azaz and grandson of Shema of the Joel clan. They lived in the territory around the town of Aroer, as far north as Nebo and Baal-Meon, 9 and as far east as the desert just west of the Euphrates River. They needed this much land because they owned too many cattle to keep them all in Gilead.
10 When Saul was king, the Reuben tribe attacked and defeated the Hagrites, then took over their land east of Gilead.
The Descendants of Gad
11 The tribe of Gad lived in the region of Bashan, north of the Reuben tribe. Gad's territory extended all the way to the town of Salecah. 12 Some of the clan leaders were Joel, Shapham, Janai, and Shaphat. 13 Their relatives included Michael, Meshullam, Sheba, Jorai, Jacan, Zia, and Eber.
14 They were all descendants of Abihail, whose family line went back through Huri, Jaroah, Gilead, Michael, Jeshishai, Jahdo, and Buz. 15 Ahi, the son of Abdiel and the grandson of Guni, was the leader of their clan.
16 The people of Gad lived in the towns in the regions of Bashan and Gilead, as well as in the pastureland of Sharon. 17 Their family records were written when Jotham was king of Judah and Jeroboam was king of Israel.
18 The tribes of Reuben, Gad, and East Manasseh had 44,760 soldiers trained to fight in battle with shields, swords, bows, and arrows. 19 They fought against the Hagrites and the tribes of Jetur, Naphish, and Nodab. 20 Whenever these soldiers went to war against their enemies, they prayed to God and trusted him to help. That's why the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and East Manasseh defeated the Hagrites and their allies. 21 These Israelite tribes captured 50,000 camels, 250,000 sheep, 2,000 donkeys, and 100,000 people. 22 Many of the Hagrites died in battle, because God was fighting this battle against them. The tribes of Reuben, Gad, and East Manasseh lived in that territory until they were taken as prisoners to Assyria.[d]
The Tribe of East Manasseh
23 East Manasseh was a large tribe, so its people settled in the northern region of Bashan, as far north as Baal-Hermon,[e] Senir, and Mount Hermon. 24 Epher, Ishi, Eliel, Azriel, Jeremiah, Hodaviah, and Jahdiel were their clan leaders; they were well-known leaders and brave soldiers.
The Tribes of Reuben, Gad, and East Manasseh Are Defeated
25 The people of the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and East Manasseh were unfaithful to the God their ancestors had worshiped, and they started worshiping the gods of the nations that God had forced out of Canaan. 26 (D) So God sent King Tiglath Pileser[f] of Assyria to attack these Israelite tribes. The king led them away as prisoners to Assyria, and from then on, he forced them to live in Halah, Habor, Hara, and near the Gozan River.

5 Descendencia de Rubén, primogénito de Israel.
Rubén era el primogénito, pero en la genealogía no fue reconocido como tal, por haber profanado el lecho de su padre. Su derecho de primogenitura pasó a los hijos de José hijo de Israel. 2 Y aunque es verdad que Judá fue más poderoso que sus hermanos, y hasta llegó a ser jefe de ellos, la primogenitura pasó a José. 3 Los hijos de Rubén, primogénito de Israel, fueron Janoc, Falú, Jezrón y Carmí.
4 Los descendientes de Joel en línea directa fueron Semaías, Gog, Simí, 5 Micaías, Reaías, Baal 6 y Beerá, jefe de los rubenitas. A este último se lo llevó cautivo Tiglat Piléser, rey de Asiria.
7 Estos fueron los parientes de Beerá, según los registros genealógicos de sus familias: Jeyel el jefe, Zacarías 8 y Bela hijo de Azaz, hijo de Semá, hijo de Joel. 11 Estos fueron los hijos de Gad que habitaron frente a los rubenitas en la región de Basán, hasta llegar a Salcá: 12 Joel fue el jefe en Basán; el segundo, Safán; y luego Janay y Safat. 13 Sus parientes, según las familias patriarcales, fueron siete en total: Micael, Mesulán, Sabá, Joray, Jacán, Zía y Éber.
14 Estos fueron los hijos de Abijaíl hijo de Jurí, hijo de Jaroa, hijo de Galaad, hijo de Micael, hijo de Jesisay, hijo de Yadó, hijo de Buz. 15 El jefe de sus familias era Ahí, hijo de Abdiel y nieto de Guní. 16 Estos habitaron en Galaad, en Basán y sus aldeas, y en todos los campos de pastoreo de Sarón, hasta sus confines. 17 La genealogía de ellos se registró en el tiempo de Jotán, rey de Judá, y de Jeroboán, rey de Israel.
18 Los rubenitas, los gaditas y los de la media tribu de Manasés contaban con un ejército de cuarenta y cuatro mil setecientos sesenta hombres valientes, armados de escudo y de espada, hábiles en el manejo del arco y diestros en la guerra. 19 Combatieron a los agarenos y a Jetur, Nafis y Nodab. 20 Por cuanto confiaban en Dios, clamaron a él en medio del combate, y Dios los ayudó a derrotar a los agarenos y a sus aliados. 21 Se apoderaron de su ganado (cincuenta mil camellos, doscientas cincuenta mil ovejas y dos mil asnos) y capturaron a cien mil personas, 22 a muchas de las cuales mataron, porque Dios estaba con ellos. En ese lugar habitaron hasta el tiempo del exilio.
La media tribu de Manasés
23 Los hijos de la media tribu de Manasés eran numerosos y se establecieron en el país, desde Basán hasta Baal Hermón, Senir y el monte Hermón. 24 Los jefes de sus familias patriarcales fueron Éfer, Isí, Eliel, Azriel, Jeremías, Hodavías y Yadiel. Todos ellos eran guerreros valientes, hombres importantes y jefes de sus respectivas familias patriarcales. 25 Pero pecaron contra el Dios de sus antepasados, pues se prostituyeron al adorar a los dioses de los pueblos de la región, a los cuales Dios había destruido delante de ellos. 26 Por eso el Dios de Israel incitó contra ellos a Pul, es decir, a Tiglat Piléser, rey de Asiria, quien deportó a los rubenitas, los gaditas y a la media tribu de Manasés, llevándolos a Jalaj, Jabor, Hará y al río Gozán, donde permanecen hasta hoy.

5 Now the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel, (for he was the firstborn; but forasmuch as he defiled his father's bed, his birthright was given unto the sons of Joseph the son of Israel: and the genealogy is not to be reckoned after the birthright.
2 For Judah prevailed above his brethren, and of him came the chief ruler; but the birthright was Joseph's:)
3 The sons, I say, of Reuben the firstborn of Israel were, Hanoch, and Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.
4 The sons of Joel; Shemaiah his son, Gog his son, Shimei his son,
5 Micah his son, Reaia his son, Baal his son,
6 Beerah his son, whom Tilgathpilneser king of Assyria carried away captive: he was prince of the Reubenites.
7 And his brethren by their families, when the genealogy of their generations was reckoned, were the chief, Jeiel, and Zechariah,
8 And Bela the son of Azaz, the son of Shema, the son of Joel, who dwelt in Aroer, even unto Nebo and Baalmeon:
9 And eastward he inhabited unto the entering in of the wilderness from the river Euphrates: because their cattle were multiplied in the land of Gilead.
10 And in the days of Saul they made war with the Hagarites, who fell by their hand: and they dwelt in their tents throughout all the east land of Gilead.
11 And the children of Gad dwelt over against them, in the land of Bashan unto Salcah:
12 Joel the chief, and Shapham the next, and Jaanai, and Shaphat in Bashan.
13 And their brethren of the house of their fathers were, Michael, and Meshullam, and Sheba, and Jorai, and Jachan, and Zia, and Heber, seven.

17 All these were reckoned by genealogies in the days of Jotham king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam king of Israel.
18 The sons of Reuben, and the Gadites, and half the tribe of Manasseh, of valiant men, men able to bear buckler and sword, and to shoot with bow, and skilful in war, were four and forty thousand seven hundred and threescore, that went out to the war.
19 And they made war with the Hagarites, with Jetur, and Nephish, and Nodab.
20 And they were helped against them, and the Hagarites were delivered into their hand, and all that were with them: for they cried to God in the battle, and he was intreated of them; because they put their trust in him.
21 And they took away their cattle; of their camels fifty thousand, and of sheep two hundred and fifty thousand, and of asses two thousand, and of men an hundred thousand.
22 For there fell down many slain, because the war was of God. And they dwelt in their steads until the captivity.
23 And the children of the half tribe of Manasseh dwelt in the land: they increased from Bashan unto Baalhermon and Senir, and unto mount Hermon.
24 And these were the heads of the house of their fathers, even Epher, and Ishi, and Eliel, and Azriel, and Jeremiah, and Hodaviah, and Jahdiel, mighty men of valour, famous men, and heads of the house of their fathers.
25 And they transgressed against the God of their fathers, and went a whoring after the gods of the people of the land, whom God destroyed before them.
26 And the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Assyria, and the spirit of Tilgathpilneser king of Assyria, and he carried them away, even the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh, and brought them unto Halah, and Habor, and Hara, and to the river Gozan, unto this day.
