4 Các con cháu khác của Giu-đa là Phê-rê, Hết-rôn, Cạt-mi, Hu-rơ, và Sô-banh.

2 Rê-ai-gia là con Sô-banh. Rê-ai-gia sinh Gia-hát, Gia-hát sinh A-hu-mai và La-hát. Đó là họ hàng của dân Xô-ra-thít.

3-4 Hu-rơ là con trưởng nam của Ca-lép và vợ là Ép-ra-tha. Hu-rơ là người sáng lập [a] thị trấn Bết-lê-hem. Ba con trai ông là Ê-tam, Phê-nu-ên, và Ê-xe.

Các con trai của Ê-tam là Ghít-rê-ên, Ích-ma, và Ích-bát. Họ có một em gái tên Ha-xê-lên-bô-ni. Phê-nu-ên sinh Ghê-đo, còn Ê-xe sinh Hu-sa.

5 Thê-cô-a sinh A-sua. A-sua có hai vợ tên Hê-la và Na-a-ra. 6 Các con trai của A-sua và Na-a-ra là A-hu-xam, Hê-phe, Tê-me-ni, và Ha-a-hát-ta-ri. 11 Kê-lúp, anh Su-la, sinh Mê-hia. Mê-hia sinh Ếch-tôn. 12 Ếch-tôn sinh Bết-Ra-pha, Ba-sê-a, và Tê-hin-na. Tê-hin-na là tổ phụ của thị trấn Na-hách [c]. Các người đó gốc Rê-ca.

13 Các con trai của Kê-na là Ốt-ni-ên và Sê-rai-gia. Các con trai của Ốt-ni-ên là Ha-tha và Mê-ô-nô-thai. 14 Mê-ô-nô-thai sinh Óp-ra. Sê-rai-gia sinh Giô-áp.

Giô-áp là tổ tiên của các dân sống trong Thung lũng Thợ Khéo [d], sở dĩ mang tên nầy vì những người sống ở đó đều là các thợ khéo.

15 Ca-lép là con trai của Giê-phu-nê. Các con trai của Ca-lép là Y-ru, Ê-la, và Na-am. Con trai Ê-la là Kê-nát.

16 Các con trai của Giê-ha-lê-lên là Xíp, Xíp-ha, Ti-ra, và A-xa-rên.

17-18 Các con trai của Ê-ra là Giê-the, Mê-rết, Ê-phe, và Gia-lôn. Mê-rết lấy Bi-thia, con gái của vua Ai-cập. Các con của Mê-rết và Bi-thia là Mi-ri-am, Sam-mai, và Ích-ba. Ích-ba sinh Ết-tê-moa. Mê-rết cũng có một người vợ gốc Giu-đa. Bà sinh ra Giê-rết, Hê-be, và Giê-cu-thiên. Giê-rết sinh Ghê-đo. Hê-be sinh Xô-cô. Còn Giê-cu-thiên sinh Xa-noa.

19 Vợ của Hô-đia là em gái Na-ham [e]. Các con trai của vợ Hô-đia là Ết-tê-moa, và cha của Kê-i-la. Kê-i-la xuất thân từ dân Gạt-mít, còn Ết-tê-moa xuất thân từ dân Ma-a-ca-thít. 20 Các con trai của Si-môn là Am-nôn, Rin-na, Bên-Ha-nan, và Ti-lôn. Các con trai của Ích-si là Xô-hết và Bên-Xô-hết.

21-22 Sê-la là con Giu-đa. Các con trai Sê-la là Ê-rơ, La-a-đa, Giô-kim, những người từ Cô-xê-ba, Giô-ách, và Xa-ráp. Ê-rơ sinh Lê-ca. Lê-a-đa sinh Ma-rê-sa và họ hàng của những thợ dệt vải ở Bết-Ách-bia. Giô-ách và Xa-ráp cai trị Mô-áp và Gia-su-bi Lê-hem [f]. Những bút tích của gia đình nầy rất xưa. 23 Các con trai của Sê-la làm thợ gốm. Họ sống ở Nê-ta-im và Ghê-đa-ra và làm việc cho vua.

Các con cái của Xi-mê-ôn

24 Các con trai của Xi-mê-ôn là Nê-mu-ên, Gia-min, Gia-ríp, Xê-ra, và Sa-un. 25 Con trai của Sa-un là Sa-lum. Con trai của Sa-lum là Míp-xam. Con trai Míp-xam là Mích-ma.

26 Con trai của Mích-ma là Ham-mu-ên. Con trai của Ham-mu-ên là Xa-cua. Con trai Xa-cua là Si-mê-i. 27 Si-mê-i có mười sáu con trai và sáu con gái, nhưng anh em ông không có con cho nên gia tộc họ không đông bằng gia tộc Giu-đa.

28 Các con của Si-mê-i sống ở Bê-e-sê-ba, Mô-la-đa, Ha-xa-Su-anh, 29 Binh-ha, Ê-xem, Tô-lát, 30 Bê-tu-ên, Họt-ma, Xiếc-lác, 31 Bết-Mác-ca-bốt, Ha-xa Xu-xim, Bết-Bi-ri, và Sa-a-ra-im. Họ sống trong các thành đó cho đến khi Đa-vít lên ngôi vua. 32 Năm làng gần các thành nầy là Ê-tam, A-in, Rim-môn, Tô-ken, và A-san. 33 Ngoài ra cũng có các làng khác chạy dài đến Ba-a-lát. Đó là nơi họ ở. Họ cũng chép gia phổ của gia đình mình.

Xi-xa là con Síp-hi, cháu A-lôn. A-lôn là con Giê-đai-gia, cháu Sim-ri. Sim-ri là con Sê-mai-gia.

Các gia đình nầy rất đông con. 39 Họ đi ra ngoài thành Ghê-đo về phía đông thung lũng để tìm đồng cỏ cho gia súc mình. 40 Họ tìm được nhiều đồng cỏ tốt, đất rộng, khoảng khoát và yên tĩnh. Các con cháu của Cham trước kia sống ở đó. 41 Những người trong danh sách trên đây đến định cư ở Ghê-đo trong khi Ê-xê-chia làm vua Giu-đa. Họ đánh dân Ha-mít, phá lều trại của chúng, và đánh dân Mê-u-nít đang sống ở đó, hoàn toàn tiêu diệt dân đó. Cho nên ngày nay không còn dân Mê-u-nít nữa. Rồi họ vào chiếm nơi ấy vì có nhiều đồng cỏ cho bầy chiên.

42 Bê-la-tia, Nê-ra-ria, Rê-phai-gia, và U-xi-ên, các con trai của Y-si, hướng dẫn năm trăm người Xi-mê-ôn đánh các dân sống trong vùng núi Ê-đôm. 43 Họ giết những người A-ma-léc còn sống sót. Từ đó đến nay người Xi-mê-ôn vẫn sống ở Ê-đôm.

Descendants of Judah

4 (A)The sons of Judah: (B)Perez, Hezron, (C)Carmi, Hur, and Shobal. 2 (D)Reaiah the son of Shobal fathered Jahath, and Jahath fathered Ahumai and Lahad. These were the clans of the (E)Zorathites. 3 These were the sons[a] of Etam: Jezreel, Ishma, and Idbash; and the name of their sister was Hazzelelponi, 4 and (F)Penuel fathered (G)Gedor, and Ezer fathered Hushah. These were the sons of Hur, the firstborn of (H)Ephrathah, the father of Bethlehem. 5 (I)Ashhur, the father of Tekoa, had two wives, Helah and Naarah; 6 Naarah bore him Ahuzzam, Hepher, Temeni, and Haahashtari. These were the sons of Naarah. 7 The sons of Helah: Zereth, Izhar, and Ethnan. 8 Koz fathered Anub, Zobebah, and the clans of Aharhel, the son of Harum. 9 Jabez was (J)more honorable than his brothers; and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.”[b] 10 Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my border, and that your hand might be with me, and that you would keep me from harm[c] so that it might not bring me pain!” And God granted what he asked. 11 Chelub, the brother of Shuhah, fathered Mehir, who fathered Eshton. 12 Eshton fathered Beth-rapha, Paseah, and Tehinnah, the father of Ir-nahash. These are the men of Recah. 13 The sons of (K)Kenaz: (L)Othniel and Seraiah; and the sons of Othniel: Hathath and Meonothai.[d] 14 Meonothai fathered Ophrah; and Seraiah fathered Joab, the father of Ge-harashim,[e] so-called because they were craftsmen. 15 The sons of (M)Caleb the son of Jephunneh: Iru, Elah, and Naam; and the son[f] of Elah: Kenaz. 16 The sons of Jehallelel: Ziph, Ziphah, Tiria, and Asarel. 17 The sons of Ezrah: Jether, Mered, Epher, and Jalon. These are the sons of Bithiah, the daughter of Pharaoh, whom Mered married;[g] and she conceived and bore[h] Miriam, Shammai, and Ishbah, the father of Eshtemoa. 18 And his Judahite wife bore (N)Jered the father of Gedor, Heber the father of Soco, and Jekuthiel the father of Zanoah. 19 The sons of the wife of Hodiah, the sister of Naham, were the fathers of Keilah the Garmite and Eshtemoa the Maacathite. 20 The sons of Shimon: Amnon, Rinnah, Ben-hanan, and Tilon. The sons of Ishi: Zoheth and Ben-zoheth. 21 The sons of (O)Shelah the son of Judah: Er the father of Lecah, Laadah the father of Mareshah, and the clans of the house of linen workers at Beth-ashbea; 22 and Jokim, and the men of Cozeba, and Joash, and Saraph, who ruled in Moab and returned to Lehem[i] (now the records[j] are ancient). 23 These were the potters who were inhabitants of Netaim and Gederah. They lived there in the king's service.

Descendants of Simeon

24 (P)The sons of Simeon: Nemuel, Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, Shaul; 25 Shallum was his son, Mibsam his son, Mishma his son. 26 The sons of Mishma: Hammuel his son, Zaccur his son, Shimei his son. 27 Shimei had sixteen sons and six daughters; but his brothers did not have many children, (Q)nor did all their clan multiply (R)like the men of Judah. 28 (S)They lived in Beersheba, Moladah, Hazar-shual, 29 (T)Bilhah, Ezem, (U)Tolad, 30 (V)Bethuel, Hormah, Ziklag, 31 Beth-marcaboth, (W)Hazar-susim, (X)Beth-biri, and (Y)Shaaraim. These were their cities until David reigned. 32 And their villages were Etam, Ain, Rimmon, Tochen, and Ashan, five cities, 33 along with all their villages that were around these cities as far as (Z)Baal. These were their settlements, and they kept a genealogical record.

34 Meshobab, Jamlech, Joshah the son of Amaziah, 35 Joel, Jehu the son of Joshibiah, son of Seraiah, son of Asiel, 36 Elioenai, Jaakobah, Jeshohaiah, Asaiah, Adiel, Jesimiel, Benaiah, 37 Ziza the son of Shiphi, son of Allon, son of Jedaiah, son of Shimri, son of Shemaiah— 38 these mentioned by name were princes in their clans, (AA)and their fathers' houses increased greatly. 39 They journeyed to the entrance of (AB)Gedor, to the east side of the valley, to seek pasture for their flocks, 40 where they found rich, good pasture, and the land was very broad, (AC)quiet, and peaceful, for the former inhabitants there belonged to Ham. 41 (AD)These, registered by name, came in the days of Hezekiah, king of Judah, and destroyed their tents and the Meunites who were found there, and marked them for destruction to this day, (AE)and settled in their place, because there was pasture there for their flocks. 42 And some of them, five hundred men of the Simeonites, went to (AF)Mount Seir, having as their leaders Pelatiah, Neariah, Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi. 43 And they defeated (AG)the remnant of the Amalekites who had escaped, and they have lived there to this day.
